prior to the 00-01 the bulls had a ton of cash, and they extended offers to

GRANT HILL
TRACY MCGRADY
TIM DUNCAN
EDDIE JONES
TIM THOMAS

at the end of the day they got stuck with "EDDIE ROBINSON"

the thing that is puzzling about this is, the cavs at this point are alot better then the bulls that year.. they have 1 of the top 3 players in the league and things are "I GUESS  are on the uptick" at least i thought they were..

so is this the consensus around the league ? the cavs are not that close to doing anything ?

i mean we are talking about willie green ? W*I*L*L*I*E G*R*E*E*N-- this should not be the alternative..

the cavs need to make a DAMN SPLASH already........

if they don't get hughes or johnson its a waste of an offseason and maybe a superstar.

I think the reason the Bulls didn't get any of those people is precisely because they didn't have a LeBron. But it is hard to find someone who's willing to be Number Two. Allen and Redd clearly didn't want that. Hughes and Johnson have been used to it on their teams. Maybe they can still be had.

I still maintain that even if we get Bobby Simmons, resign Z and pickup Antonio Daniels or Saruanas J..., it will be a successful off-season, esp. if we have some cap room left.

Good thread, im really worried we wont get anyone. and we will end up setteling for cutino mobley with a horrible attitude problem or some no name guys, =\

well from what i'm reading- simmons is more in the joe johnson mold-- he can do a bit of it all. just not as as good as JOE J.

we shall see.. but i don't want "CAT" here at all.....

all i know is every 5 days we are setting our sights lower and lower and lower pretty soon your going to be seeing well lets resign jmac and maybe if we can get dajuan wagner healthy and maybe kwame brown in here this is an ugly offseason and i dont expect it to get better...

I can live with Cuttino Mobley here. Once he hits his 3's then everything will be solved. If he has attitude problems.. well that will suck, but remember, winning solves everything. McInnis was accepted and happy until he flizzed, so as long as we don't catch a long cold streak to start out, then we should be fine with him.

But nothing less than him. Hughes/Simmons/Mobley. The line should end there. If we don't get that calibur player, we should NOT settle for an exit strategy such as Willie Green. Waste of cap space for the future.

I believe once we miss out on Simmons, we go no further at the 2 guard. I believe then it is up to internal improvements in Sasha and Luke. We then chase advantages in other positions like Rahim, Saruanus , Chandler, etc. I dont want to be giving Damon Jones or Mobley over the MLE.

The Bulls were also able to sign (drum roll please) Ron Mercer! But they're situation was different. Players didn't sign with them because they were sorry. Ray and Redd didn't sign with us because they wanted more $$$$. Dollars we didn't have to give them.

Those guys didn't sign with Chicago because they flat out stunk. However we don't and we already have LeBron James, so our chances of getting someone real good is alot higher.

Well no need to be scared because in the 30 odd history of the Cavalier's have signed there biggest free agent ever. Sorta a sad thing that Larry Hughes will hold that mantle.
