after reading almost everything here, the common theme is basically get rid of most of these parts. and i am guilty of this as well.

i don't know how much this plays into success on the court ? but i noticed that almost every team that plays well has a chemistry, they've been together for a couple of seasons.

in terms of the cavs meal ticket which ofcourse is "THE KING", look at all the combination of teams he's played with in 2 seasons.

his first game included : BOOZER, BREMER, OLIE, DAVIS, MILES, MIHM,

later on that season : BROWN, BATTIE, NAILON, WILLIAMS, J-MAC

his second season : GOODEN, TRAYLOR, ANDERSON, SASHA, LUCIOUS, WELSCH, SNOW,

now this upcoming season were talking about getting rid of and signing 3-4 each way coming and going.

i know this team is not the greatest, but we need to keep some kind of nucleus..

The problem is the talent level on this team is in bad shape.

It is rediculous how bad of a GM Paxson was.

If not for LeBron luckily falling in his lap this team would be trash for at least 3-5 more years!

We basically have half a roster. Maybe more, its just that some play prominent roles, when it should just be minimal. There will be big changes this offseason, but I dont believe we should blow the roster up. We have made some bad decisions over the years, but we sit here in a decent position to finally push to be a good basketball franchise.

Alot of it wasnt Paxson's doing, you can only work with what you were given and Embry didnt hand him a great deal.

Paxson did alright as the GM, but without Paxson, we wouldnt have some very good young players that we have and got for nothing. Gooden, AV, Luke and regardless of how it happened, he got Lebron.

We have a lot to build with, it's better than having Lamond Murray, Brevin Knight and Wes Person as our starting back court.

The horrible drafts and draft day trades all fall on Paxson!

He picked guys like Desegana Diop, Dejuan Wagner and Trajan Langdon, then traded away Jamal Crawford for Chris Mihm, and Brendan Haywood for Micheal Doleac.

If those 3 picks were any good and he didn't trade away Crawford and Haywood then the talent level on this roster would be above average.

To put it simply Paxson stunk and thank God he's gone!

The probelm is if any of that stuff worked out there is a huge chance we dont have lebron, so weigh everything as you will. I feel that having lebron trumps almost anything, expect for a title which wouldnt have happened.

Like A Mac aka The Truth said, without pax the cavs dont have gooden, AV, and Luke.

No arguement here.
Paxson was bad enough to have LeBron fall into his lap.
Lucky for us he didn't screw that up too.

Also Gooden and AV weren't draft picks and Luke has yet to prove anything. Even though I like Luke he could turn out to be the next Dejuan Wagner.

It would be nice to keep the same players for a string of years. The problem is that the players that we had aren't even worth keeping.

As stated above, LeBron has already had so many teammates in so little time. We need to find a core lineup soon.

You are so wrong..

One, he didnt draft Trajan Langdon, Embry did. It's in his own book, you may want to read that.

Two, he didnt draft Haywood, Orlando did. We picked for them in our spot, this was obviously stated on ESPN, My Life, Draft Night. See if the local library has it for renting.

Diop was national player of the year out of HS, or one of the top players that is...Z was injured and we needed a big. Unfortunently he was forced to use that pick. Nobody knew he was going to turn uot that bad, it happens.

He also didnt draft Jamal Crawford, Chicago did. We wanted Mihm and to complete the trade we drafted for them.

Wagner has NBA talent, he just cant stay healthy. Bad luck there.

Diop was a horrible pick, but he still got Luke, Boozer, Lebron. Mihm was a good NBA player for us.

His drafts didnt help us in the long run, but very few Gms have a much better record in the draft.

What the hell: Diop was not a national player of the year coming out of high school. He was a complete project whose high school coach couldn't believe that teams in the lotter were interest in him.

I will never forgive Paxson for the Wagner and Diop trades: from what I've been hearing he actually wanted a couple of players I liked but his idiotic pick for coach John Lucas convinced him otherwise

The only thing nice I have to say about Paxson is that he was bad enough that we got Lebron but he might have put us in a hole ( no draft picks, glut of mediocre talent at SG, terrible coaching picks) that we might lose him in a few years

I think he was Virginia Player of the Year. He was something player of the year, I know that for a fact, I dont think it was natl, but maybe it was Virginia, ive been trying to find a scouting report.

I agree it was a bad pick, but at the time we really had no choice.

Yup. We have Lebron locked up for 3 more years, that's our window of opportunity. Gilbert seems very aware of this fact in that he gave Mike Brown a Cavs clock during the press conference.

i have never been a big fan of Paxson, the guy stumbled and bumbled his way into Lebron. however i don't think his big problem was a lack of basketball knowledge or not having an eye for talent, i think his big problem was being a push over for people around him. he should have stuck to his guns and not let Lucas talk him into guys like Diop and Wagner.

I agree it was a bad pick, but at the time we really had no choice.

they had plenty of choices other then Diop.

Like what. Please tell me, Im dieing to know.

It's easy to look back now and say, oh wow, this guy would have been a great pick. Thats how the drafts go, do me this though instead.

Find me one GM in the NBA that has a good draft record, you do that and Ill find you ten that dont.

Paxson was a roller coaster GM. He did make some bad draft picks and signed up players to some bad contracts. He did have some good draft picks and was great at dumping contracts. His main weakness to me was that he was a bit weak and easily influenced. He wasn't a great GM, but there have been plenty worse.
