I would still do the trade no doubt but seeing Lauri out there made me sad. Maybe we could offered another first or two seconds and sub in Love (now that we know would happen) In another universe we keep him. Sighs DM balled out today but wish he would had kept his mins down.

By rule we couldn't offer another first. I doubt 2 2nds would have replaced Lauri value wise in the trade. I'm not even sure an extra first would have replaced Lauri for the Jazz. Also LeVert would be the player going not KLove. With Klove the trade wouldn't work money wise.

I love how many geniuses we have on this message board. Literally EVERYONE on the board said on the day of the trade that Lauri was the biggest piece we gave up. Yet, we still have some smart guys insisting that a "a good" GM would have found a way to get Donovan Mitchell without having to lose Lauri. The funny thing is he actually believes this lol.

No, a BAD GM would have refused to give him up and we'd now be looking up in the standings to find the Donovan Mitchell-led Knicks.

Not sure I would identify the poster in question as representative of the site.

Then you don't do the deal.

How many of you/us think Lauri will be a perennial All-Star?

The Utah GM has stated that there would have no deal with the
Cavs for DM without Lauri.

“When we got to the pivot point that we did and decided to look at moving on from two All-Stars, we looked specifically for deals that included players,” says Jazz general manager Justin Zanik, referencing the decision to move not only Mitchell but Rudy Gobert, as well. “Lauri is somebody we really, really wanted if we were going to move Donovan. He’s just such a rare archetype. Maybe early in his career, people pigeonholed him in to just a tall jump shooter. But he’s high character, he works hard and he continues to get better.”

Koby doesn't blink. I give him that. He has been threatened several times by players and he just gets rid of them. He also closes the deal when other GM's dick around like some of you are suggesting he should have done. This deal looks clearly better than what the Knicks could have offered as of now. At the time, many thought what the Knicks offered was better, but both Lauri and Sexton were distressed assets
