The Indians are reportedly having serious conversations with free agent Octavio Dotel.
Cleveland really needed quality over quantity when it came to the pen, but they've already brought in two veterans and seem likely to acquire a third. Dotel would be a candidate to close if signed. However, there are going to be a lot of teams in on him, including some from large markets.

I REALLY don't want Dotel. He wasn't that good of a closer when he was healthy. I'd be much more interested in a guy like Keith Foulke on a one-year deal. He was pretty good down the stretch for Boston and is looking for a team to close on.

Isn't this the same guy who's had serious elbow or shoulder trouble within the last year or so ???

Probably...we got him on the cheap most likely..that's the only players we get...

Hurt has beens or career journeymen or straight up garbage..

He's likely signing today or tomorrow. I think it's going to be a two year deal w/ club option on yr 3.

I would have loved to have Dotel like 3 years ago before the Astros made him a closer. has great stuff but never seemed to take to the closers role but he was maybe the best set up guy in the game for a few years.

3 years ago Dotel makes this an OK rotation by himself. 25.1 innings and a bad ERA in two years is not something to write home about. Anyone know if his arm is healed or not. If it's healed completely, great signing, strengthen's the pen in a very good way, if it's not, just another guy we're taking a HUGE risk on while throwing money at him.

This is not serious, but if Dolan wanted to quite all the "cheap bastard" stuff he could throw millions and millions at Zito...But like that would happen.

we got Borowski so I'm not worried...

Oh thank goodness we got Joe Borowski then... This could have been a nightmare..

Oh well at least the Phillies bent over the Sox for Garcia..and Garland is about to be leaving too...get Buerhle out :]

That's right, CDT... Shappy and Tight Wad had this planned the entire time.. White Sox will blow up their squad.. Liriano will blow out his arm, and the Tigers will suffer the affects of losing the World Series...

We'll compete with the Royals for the divison.. However, they did just get Dotel so who knows..

Luckily enough we countered with Joe Borowski..

If we can sign Craig Counsell I really don't see what Jeremy Affeldt is going to be able to do this season..
