Dwyane Wade: Back to Riley (#CavsLifer)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think everything but the d is accurate. He did clog the lane. He was a good defender no dount. One of the only bright spots in that regard

I think his D was OK. He did block a lot of shots and grab a few steals, but he wasn't any better at preventing dribble penetration than any of the other wings we have. Blocks and steals are great, but plain old stops are what this team needs more than anything.

Agree he was not great recently, but during the streak he was one of the best in the lockdown end of the game crew with Lebron and Green. There is a lot of speculation his body is failing him. I don't doubt it. Maybe he didn't believe in rebuilding on the fly, but really it seemed like Koby thought he wasn't the right voice in the lockerroom.

I honestly think the death of his agent (father figure to him) really shook Wade up, and maybe helped him recognize his own basketball "mortality."

I think this might be for the best, for him, even though I hate to lose him.

Good luck, Dwyane.

I'm sorry but nothing about this was "right". He should have played out the remainder of his contract and then done a one-day signing with the Heat so he could properly retire there.

If anything, the infusion of youth was great for Wade because he could take more time off to be ready for a deep playoff run, where his true value was always going to be for us.

Having Wade negate Livingston and make clutch, championship plays down the stretch was something I was greatly looking forward to. How could he and LeBron not close this one out together as a "last hurrah"?

I don't support any of this.

I agree.

You don't sign a 36 year old Hall of Famer so that he can play 82 games, 35 minutes a night.

You sign him for the playoffs. We just lost a secret weapon that we could have used against the Warriors.

When those clutch playoff moments come, and you need big plays..... that's when you play him. Wade would have been very important to us in the playoffs.

Wade is still capable of going out there sometimes and "turning back the clock" and dropping 35 and help us win a crucial playoff game.

Sad to see him go, but it seems that we wanted more young legs on the court, and that meant less minutes for Wade. So he chose to go back home and then retire at the end of the season.

He might be resting back to backs in the regular season, but when the 4th quarter comes along in a playoff series.... that's when you call on his number.

It sort of seems like he and IT had the same problem. Calling out guys without the game to back it up. Both are not what they were, so it isn't easy to here them criticize.

How is he playing tonight? A day after being traded? I’ve never seen that happen before!

There’s a ‘wet floor’ sign right next to Gabby Union... Otherwise underwhelming

Wasn't he the only player involved in the trade? He was the only one who had to pass a physical.

Heat up 18 on the Bucks.

Wade 19 minutes so far...1/6 from the field and 3 points.

Listening to Wades post game presser, I don't think he was ever that happy here. He mentioned once or twice that he got one last lunch in with LeBron before having to come back to Miami where he'd have to change his diet back to get in the shape that matches Heat culture. I think maybe he was not taking care of himself as well in Cleveland if he was unhappy. I remember even thinking recently watching him that he looked a little overweight. Hearing him talk about getting one more meal of pancakes in before having to tighten up his eating makes me think maybe he just didn't dig being here.

So for that reason I think it's for the best and I am happy for Wade cuz he clearly was thrilled being back home. He was a professional here but maybe his heart just wasn't into it.

The reunion with Bron likely wore off quickly, and after that he realized he'd be spending another winter in the freezing cold, away from his kids' real home and friends.

Also, I don't think Gabby ever shied away from making it known she wanted to be in Miami. He also said a number of times that he didn't feel he needed to ring chase, which was kind of telling.

It was fun while it lasted, and we got some vintage moments out of it, but it's probably what was best for both him and the team.

I think he's close to bowing out.

Which is good, and I agree with others, his heart wasn't into playing here, ring chasing and the like. You can't force that on a guy.

I would imagine that LeBron and Wade both kinda agreed with it. I'm a little sad because it would have been cool to see him make a playoff run with us, but I weirdly respect him for doing this rather gracefully.

Drop 35???
Lol in what universe.

D wade is so shot, it’s sad to watch...

He had a few moments this year and it was fun seeing him reunited with bron. But he wasn’t going to be much help.

What do you expect? we don't practice, so I wouldn't be surprised if our players diet plan consists of Burgers and fries.

He did look kinda chubby to be honest, and if he practices hard and kept his diet in check I think he might have been a real difference maker in the playoffs.

Is that not concerning in regards to our culture? That’s a direct shot at our organization in regards to player discipline and accountability.

That’s the second guy to call out our lax standards. IT thought we were lazy too.

It’d explain Jae Crowder never seemingly getting back into shape.

That’s disappointing to me....I know these are pros and they likely don’t have designed nutrition plans like a college program holds kids too, but shit....You aren’t beating the Warriors with guys slamming burgers, pancakes, and cokes for an entire season.
