E3- PS3's prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May 8, 2006 - In a last minute bombshell, Kaz Hirai announced the specific date and details of the PS3 launch. The PS3 will be arranged in two separate system configurations: a 20 and a 60 gigabyte hard drive system. What's more, Japan will see the PS3 first on November 11th, at a price for 59,800 yen for the 20 gigabyte system setup. The 60 gigabyte system will be open ended and set by retailers. North America, Europe and Australasia will see the system six days later on November 17th. The price? $499 dollars or 499 Euros for the 20 gig version, and $599 dollars or 599 Euros for the 60 gig version. In Canadian dollars, that will come to approximately $549 dollars for the 20 gig and $659 dollars for the 60 gig version.


Hirai also announced that Sony will try to get a grand total of six million units shipped by March 31, 2007, which is Sony's fiscal date: 2 million PS3s will be available during the initial launch window, another 2 million will be shipped before the end of 2006, and finally another 2 before March 31st.

Oh and guess what, the XBOX360's Base price will fall by $100. The Premium console will drop by like $70. The Nintendo Wii will be about$200.

I dunno man. Hardcore games will buy the PS3, but it will be the casual games that decide who wins the Console war. And unfortunetly, casual games will not like the price.

On a side note- I dont think I will buy a 360. I am starting to really like the Wii and its crazy game ideas.

E3 2006: PS3 20 Gig Missing Features?

May 8, 2006 - The announcement earlier tonight that the PS3 would come in two separate configurations easily caught the ear of PS3 fans eager for any news of Sony's system. However, upon closer analysis of the images for the systems itself, a rather curious system feature seemed to be missing from the 20 gig configuration.


Looking at the official press site of SCEA, we noticed that the PS3 with the 20 gigabyte hard drive seemed to lack HDMI support. This seems to be confirmed by an offical press release from SCEA, which indicates via comparison between the two systems. However, it also indicates that the 20 gigabyte system won't have Memory Stick, SD or Compact Flash reading capability or WiFi support. Even worse, it appears that rumble doesn't appear to be included with the new six axis sensing controller.

Could the 20 gig become a gamer shunned system? When Microsoft launched the Xbox 360, consumers hated the Core system that didn't come with a hard drive and other features, quickly dubbing it the "tard pack." Will the 20 gig suffer the same fate? We'll have more details as we get them from the show.

Well I believe the ps3 just claimed to have 1080p possibilities but no one knows FOR SURE if it is true, and if it won't just be upscaled 1080p. Yes you will need a new tv that is 1080p native resolution not upscaling, those tv's are roughly starting at $3k easily.

Besides I don't even think you can play regular dvd's in a blu ray, I'm not sure if the ps3 has backwards compabilitiy or not.

I'm not sure what you mean that you need a 1080p tv for your movies will look like crap, is false to me. I think what you may mean is to FULLY capture the full alleged capabilities. If you have a good tv that is 720p native resolution you will still have a good pic.

ps3 is just trying to jump ahead of the tech curve but it's all kind of a waste since the full capabilities won't be able to me used imo and I think by that time microsoft will come out with a new sys

Well I got a 360 and I love it. Have fun playing Zelda, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Party, Mario Kart and Pikmin on the Nintendo Wii. I know your going to say but you can get FN Round 3 and stuff like that on the Wii but you can get all those on the 360 as well. Plus sweet games that aren't geared towards 6 year olds. I've grown out of Nintendo games :thumbdown Let me know if Mario ever gets laid by Peach

i saw on tv that the PS3 has a controller like the nintendo they were flying a plane and moving the plane up and down by moving the controller up and down hbomber is right they put to much into this damn thing that isnt able to be used im not getting one until it drops to around 300 for now i'll get the 360 anybody know any good games for it? i havent paid attention to it cuz i was waiting for the ps3 but not anymore

The PS3 controller is a scam of the Wiimote. It only has the tilting options. Whereas the Wiimote has full motion controll.

EX. you can't use the PS3 controller as a sword like u can for the Wii.

Oh, did u guys know that the PS3's controller does not have a rumble feature anymore? So no more shaking when u run into a wall, or when u are getting shot. :thumbdown
