Gagne would have been nice, but he is a major risk. His injuries were significant, and he is not the same pitcher as when he was dominant. Right now, he still has some mystique going for him, but there is a reason that the teams going after him are getting him as a setup man, and not making him their closer (only Boston and NY could boast not making him the closer, but all the teams in the running for him wanted him for setup). His velocity is way down, and the devastating curve he had does not break anymore. Hitters will figure him out, then he will be the Gagne of way old (see Eric Gagne, starting pitcher), not Eric Gagne, devastating closer.
