ESPN Suing The Ohio State University

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Madness. Madness, and stupidity.

Wow, that is taking things a bit far.

Not an agenda whatsoever. :bs:

I understand that the university has been in the wrong recently, but too many posters in here are trying to ride the moral high ground. Somewhere in the middle, but I'm happy this came out because it is clear that there is a witch hunt going on in Columbus.

This is like kicking someone in the balls, and then suing them because their balls are made of steel and you hurt your toe.

Aren't email correspondences personal? Section 149.43 of the Ohio Revised code is incredibly long and I don't have the time to go through it, (you can find it at http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/149 ) but I don't really see how personal email correspondences can be classified as public information. That's really not fair in the least. I think I might have a clearer understanding of the way this will go when I read over the code, but until then I'm struggling to find out the above and also why ESPN really needs more information on the case. It's not that necessary. The public gets the gist of what happened. It may be that I'm a die-hard buckeye fan, but I just don't see why it's necessary to rub it in our noses.

I really have no dog in this fight...not an ohio state fan and can't stand espn....

That said...I think they are trying to say that since Ohio State is a public university..ie accepts public money...emails between officials should be open to the freedom of information act.

Not saying its right, but whatever.

edit...after reviewing the complaint, that is what they are saying...buy yeah, kicking them while they are down.....

Well shit, if that was the case, Cleveland wouldn't have been corrupt by dudes that make Taft look skinny. :chuckles:

I think I saw that they are requesting that the university pay ESPNs lawyer fees as well. Another great use of taxpayer dollars.

EPSN struggling for people to give a shit about them?

This shit is tired.

PS. I love how a corporate sports reporting company is suing an educational institution. I know the whole system and the NCAA is fucked but really now, ESPN sues a state school. GG

They have a legitimate complaint.

Ohio State has already released this information to the public, and they cannot pick and choose who they release the info to.

The minute Tressel involved Sarniak, he allowed the information to be public, and all that information should be available to ESPN as well.

That being said, this is a ridiculous witch hunt by ESPN.
