JBB needs to sit down if he is going to run this kid into the ground like he has been and now he is hurt.
He aint no center and the fact JBB thought he could use him there screams clueless coach to me.
I think the season just took a massive U turn and its time to start thinking if it aint the coach then this front office needs held accountable for pushing rookie usage.

He opted out and didnt want to resign here. Are you suggesting we retain him by attaching a restraint to him so he couldnt leave?
I thought it was opposite, I thought we decline a qo letting him walk. My bad ...misremembering...getting old I guess....anyway we should have tried to sign him.

Shams Charania: Cavaliers center Isaiah Hartenstein has declined his $1.8 million player option for 2021-22 season and will become a free agent, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Hartenstein averaged 8.3 points and six rebounds to finish season in Cleveland.

I think we did try and resign him we didnt offer the QO (a bit over 2 million), but made an offer. It was rumored he was thinking about going back to Europe but ultimately he took less money to go elsewhere (Clippers) so we moved on, Tacko wasnt our first choice but nothing we could do about Hartenstein.

He took 1.729 million from the Clippers, maybe he was insulted we didnt extend a QO after he declined his 1.8 million player option. He gambled on himself and got 100k less.

Really not a huge loss as he couldnt play more than 20 minutes a game with as much as he fouls.

Sorry I misremembered it as an RFA too

I edited my previous message. He opted out of 1.8, we didnt extend a 2.1 QO, he got insulted i am guessing and took 1.7 from Clippers, less than his option.

So we could have extended a qualifying offer? Sucks he was too good to be our backup.

I think that was the problem, not 100% the 2nd string since we still had Love and got Lauri. He would have been an emergency big who we'd be using right now.

I can't be mad about yesterday's game, not even disappointed. At the end there we were gassed and Mobley was hurt, no Allen, no Markk, no Love, no Sexton. So the ball ends up in the hands of Wade, who launches a wide open 3 that barely hits the rim. This was after Valentine gets another crack at a 3 and makes it... but he was out of bounds. I don't know - we played hard, we had our moments, stayed in the game, but we pretty much looked gassed at the end. The Celtics also have an actual offense, and that was on display after Mobley went out.

Either way, we are missing what, 5 of our rotation? I thought we played valiantly and should hold our heads up high after this one.

Agreed

The health of this team is more of a worry right now than the play of this team. And we can chalk last night up to health.

come on. That was a fluke. He could have taken any elbow into the arm on any play. Wasn't because he was playing at the 5. Besides, these guys switch off on the 4/5 constantly in game.

I do agree that only having Fall available is kind of horseshit. But we were down Laurie, Allen & Love (plus Stevens who'd have been able to give you 4 minutes). At a certain point you can't plan for that many injuries. Fall should never play and Davis needs to be able to give you those 8 minutes.

Having to physically exert yourself against much heavier players for that long can take a toll on you. And as a young buck, he probably went in trying to prove he can bang in the paint. The elbow thing wasn't obviously specific to him playing the 5, but what he would have to do night in, night out if JA is out for an extend time would most certainly have ended in some sort of physical issue for Mobley. Who is NOT built to play the 5 yet.

I understand we're down Lauri, Allen and Love. BUT, I think the team should plan for not ever having to play Mobley at the 5. So a backup 5 is pretty key. A McGee type player who can hold their own against the physicality of stronger 5s. We can't expect Allen to be healthy every game, but also having that quality at the 5 further reduces the risk of injuries. That's why it's key to have some quality depth. Tacko is here because he's tall. I mean, the quality drop off is Tacko sized... I don't think we should ever play Lauri or Love at the 5...
