It helps that he's also in possession of one of the best pairs of hands in the business. He can't move his feet anymore but his hands are still lightning quick.
That's a great point. Having good hands is so important for big men but rarely gets discussed. I remember the Ukraine Train Vitaly Potapenko, who should have been a phenomenal rebounder but simply could not hang on to the ball. About the worst hands I ever saw for an NBA big man.
Great footwork, though. Really kind of weird.
