The best part of watching Evan Mobley play is, you can just see that he still isn't even scratching the surface of his offensive potential. This guy is going to steadily get better and better each year until he reaches that full potential, and the longer we watch him, the less doubt there is that he'll get there.

In the post game presser, JB said he’s in the weight room everyday and you can see guys start to bounce off him when he’s making contact with them. Love watching his growth.

His athleticism is really showing up now. His decisiveness seems to have leaped. Just too cool to watch.

Haliburton would not challenge him

I'm noticing this when he sets screens. The way he's absorbing contact on screens/picks instead of trying to avoid contact or slip them is so different compared to last season [and the early part of this season]. It's leading to a better two-man pick and roll game with he and DG.

Yeah, he might struggle to get DPOY awards because he probably won't show up on the stat line. Where the guys averaging the most steals or blocks tend to top the list, even though there is good reasons why those probably aren't the best stat to watch for defense.
I mean, hell, Mitchell and Garland currently have higher "Defensive Win/Share" than Mobley, which basically tells you everything you need to know about defensive advanced stats. I guess this is why defensive powerhouses never make the all star game either. Which is dumb.

Was interesting hearing the TNT guys talk about the length of Mobley. Cuz he really has a unique look and feel to how he plays the game. In person, it has to be a jaw dropping experience. Obviously, guys are taller, but the combination he brings - the size, speed, agility, quickness - all in one package. It really is tough to pinpoint anything like it before. I bet he had that horn cut off his head when he was a baby.

Honestly, he moves a lot like Russell did. The same kind of easy agility, quick hops, and length that can't be taught.

Going to have to get more blocks. He’s capable of leading the league in blocks. He’ll get there

I loved seeing him blocking the path of defenders trying to closeout to Garland, he did that multiple times.

Other than Giannis, I can't think of a shot blocker off the top of my head that has given Evan trouble.

He has eviscerated Myles Turner (remember the post move spin into poster dunk in his rookie year on Turner's head?). He completely dominated Brook Lopez. He routinely outplays Jaren Jackson and scores on him. He outplayed Embiid when Allen was out (granted it was Joel's first game back off injury). He was scoring on Kessler. Can't remember Gobert guarding him much. I think Bol has blocked him and some of these other players have, but it's rare.

Year two and he's only gonna get better.

Mobley has made great strides in this game this season already. Can't wait
to see the playoff version.

Probably a minority view, but now when he gets the ball in the paint around
the FT line, I expect good things to happen.

Also his DPOY would be greatly enhanced if the NBA had a stat for altered/not
taken shots by opponents when they encounter Mobley.
