Mobley has become a true “tweener”. Have not used this term in a while but this is his perfect description, imo.

He plays best as a rim running Center offensively but he is best suited as a hybrid SF/PF defensively. Such a curious case.

I don’t think he’s very good out on the perimeter on defense. He has been so trained to be a rim protector that he always has an eye on getting back in the lane to challenge shots at the rim - which is understandable given how good he is at it. But in so doing he often gives up open 3’s. I’m afraid pulling him away from the lane as a sf defender takes him from what he’s great at and makes him do what he’s mediocre at.

Ok now get a stopwatch and time it from when he catches it to when he releases it. And do the same for Merrill and compare the results. I'm curious.
