Yeah, he is so positive on the court almost regardless of his offensive game. But when you look at his free throw shooting form you have to think he has a TON of room to grow and be more successful offensively. It's like the opposite of his defense. On defense you wonder how he can get better since he is so good and polished already, on the offensive end he is very raw but you can see all this potential.

You will never see him jump on a pump fake... you know how absurd it is to contest everything and not jump on fakes? How does he know?

He’s like a batter who can decipher a pitchers’ arm movement on a fastball and a curveball….and he’s always just laying off the off speed stuff in the dirt. It is pretty fascinating to watch.

Agreed. Tremendous touch on his FT. Barely hitting rim..getting in there nice and soft. Bodes really well

Which makes me think he needs his time to shoot, and so perhaps speeding up the release should help some things. Perhaps he feels rushed when defenders try to contest his shot, and feels like they are closing in too fast right before the release.

Not only does that player need to be a #1 scoring option, they really need to be a legit SF size. Be extremely hard to get such a player if Mobley is good enough to create the Superstar Curse -- being so good early that he knocks you out of the lottery right away.

Indeed. Fighting demons right now alongside the joyous moments.. If you catch my draft... drift I mean.

We're getting lucky right now honestly. Denver and LA both shot 23% from 3 against us.

I don't think it is luck. Those 3 guys contesting 3s block the look at the hoop even if their hand is not in your face and it is speeding guys up. Also, you don't feel as confident shooting 3's when it is the only thing available and you have been completely walled off from the paint. Guys can't get a rhythm to hit their 3s.

It was a big problem leaving open 3's in the first 2 games and they have mostly been able to contest since then. They are also letting bad 3pt shooters get those instead of the main guys. If they continue to shut down the Paul George's and make the Batum's try to beat them, that is a nice recipe for success.

If the team plays that well, everyone will have more trade value on the team, and you could package a lightly protected pick too. Playing better increases yield in a trade even as the value of your pick diminishes.

If this play continues, they are in the playoffs and they are right there as far as exciting young teams with intriguing young players like the Hawks. There will be trade options.

Also, who knows. Maybe Kobe pulls a coup in the draft and gets a Bey or Bane type at 15

Already shows incredible instincts on the defensive end, and isn't exactly a liability on offense, either.

By the end of the year, I think people will be saying (if they aren't already) that he's the best player this organization has drafted since LeBron.
His competition is Kyrie, who is a lock HOFer.

He’s got Kyrie level potential and he’s a more unique player. Definitely not a dick like Kyrie either.

Cavs will still need a number one option on offense. Mobley is swiss army knife, a second or third option or a tool for the other players to score.

Getting that player will be insanely difficult.

It will. But look at the roster pieces now.

Mobley is an anchor.......maybe he's like a 1B?
Sexton, Allen and Garland are all 2nd and 3rd types.
Lauri and Okoro are hopefully good 4th / 5th types.

I think the Cavs are still a lottery team this year.....although a WILDLY improved one. Maybe even flirt with the play in?

We are basically now a fortunate lottery bounce away from vaulting ourselves in to a huge competitive window. Which is a statement that sounded beyond hilarious prior to Mobley sliding to us at #3.

And that’s no knock on Kyrie - for all his flaws he’s still a dynamic scorer and made the most iconic shot in franchise history.

That being said, Mobley has the chance to develop into an elite two-way player. He is already doing it on the defensive end, which is incredible for such a young player.

How rare is to luck into a franchise SF in a draft when you pick late lottery-mid 1st round?

Im willing to get on that train.

I was telling a friend, I didn’t know how he wasn’t even in the convo for number 1 during the process because I thought he would project to be a Team All Defense type guy.

He is. Right now.

He has 92 contested shots through five games. The closest is 69

What’s more insane? He leads in contested three point shots, too. While averaging 2 blocks and a steal a game.

Stars influence games. He’s doing it at such a ridiculously high level.

Right now we need that, yes, but I'm not so sure Mobley couldn't become a 20+ PPG scorer himself in time.

Either way, though, I do agree that we need a wing that can create his own shot and score at least 15 PPG efficiently. But I don't know that we'll truly need a distinct #1 option on offense moving forward that isn't Mobley.
