This is absurd, I don't know if I've ever seen anything like this from a basketball player. He just kind of locks down an entire area of the court, it doesn't seem to matter if the opponent dishes off to a teammate either he just adjusts and locks the next guy down too. How is he this good of a defender? Like WTF?

i love just watching him, isolating on his defense. You’re right I’ve never seen anything quite like it except maybe Gobert in the paint, but never seen anyone do it so easily all over the court. He picks a guy up, doesn’t matter if they seemed open and in good position, suddenly they just look helpless, can’t shoot, they actually turn tail and run away from the basket.

my one worry about him is fatigue or injury as the season wears on. We’re playing him like 35 minutes a game, he’s hard to keep off the court, and he plays really hard out there. No rookie can be used to the grind of the ridiculous 82 game NBA season

Lack of strength is apparent with so many missed bunnies tonight, but his length and ability to stay with guards is amazing.

I think its patially strength and partially he just generally needs to improve the feel for the around the rim game. Its weird, on defense he isnt rushed, its so natural for him, like silly good for a rookie, but i think strength and being rushed on offense is making him miss. Its not just strength, his internal clock on offense is off. Jokic just cant be rushed, plays at his own pace. Mobely needs the game to slow down for him offensively.

What is crazy is Mobley will get better defensivley. The league will adjust some, they will realize his deceptive length and athletic ability, But the adjustment might be to just not challange him, attack other players...not Allen though, they have learned their already, lol.

Its fun watching the kid, he is just going to get better, and as much as i loved him pre draft, he is better than i thought he would be already.

For someone who is apparently really quiet I can always hear him on the telecast in games yelling 'and one' or 'heyyyy' in a high pitched voice

Only credited for two blocks tonight but look what this man did to them...

I lost it when he locked up Terance Mann on that isolation.
Love how Hartenstein realized it just wasn't going to happen underneath and looked to pull back or pass every time he got the ball.

I don't know what it is. But like half of the attachments on RCF, I can't see. I'll see the thumbnail, but always get the I don't have permission to view it. The other half it works fine.

I think if you are looking at this at your workplace there is probably a filter in the wifi. I can see stuff when I sign in at home on my laptop that I cant when I bring my laptop to work and sign in here. The filter seems to affect both my personal lap top and my employer owned desk top.

It's not a filter on the wifi at work, as the same problem exists using mobile data on my phone. Still get the same error. I'm betting I won't be able to open that attachment when I get home either.

There's never really been any rhyme or reason to why they do or don't work, but for the most part, I don't expect them to work.

Let's assume Mobley stays in this 33 minutes per game range that we've seen thus far. What would be an exciting stat line for his rookie year, now that you've gotten a glimpse into his game?

I think his scoring will increase, and I hope he can maintain some of this defensive prowess.

16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.5 blocks per game

Once other teams start planning for him more, they will more likely be avoiding him and trying to get him out of position. It will be interesting how he then adapts to this and he has the IQ for it. This kid is special. No one can deny that. Simply AMAZING young man! Just excited as hell!

BTW: Since he was playing in his hometown, he looked more aggressive last night. And that was against the Clips. I hope he really wants to show the Fakers something more special!! LOL!!

He doesn't look like he's overexerting himself either, he looks really under control. I get why people are worried about the effort falling off for the whole team but I don't think so with this guy.

I agree, watching so far he reminds me the most of Gobert except without the mobility concerns and a a great shooting motion. Obviously just a terrifying player to imagine.

Keep it up Evan.. had some rough moments, and nobody wants to go into a film session to see yourself pushed off your spot by Nicholas Batum, but he didn't hang his head when the shot wouldn't fall and kept fighting.

Now Gobert.. so I think the list of comps has blossomed to:

Giannis
Duncan
Kareem
AK47
Gobert
