Ex Guards are the Best Guards {'24}

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Brito has tons of value...
Brito definitely still has value... Boyd and Hajjar is still out for debate...

Either way, a young player goes through a low point... How they recover will make or break them as big leaguers...
We don't really know what Brito's end value will be though. There's also a good chance he'll completely bust. On the other hand, Hajjar and Boyd seem like busts.

I don't really think Boyd is out for debate at all. He's striking out 44% of the time at A+ as a 23 year old and his ISO is horrendous too. Hajjar has also shown absolutely no ability to throw strikes, which is a necessity. Unless if Hajjar pulls some reverse Daniel Bard out of thin air, he is headed in the same direction.

Jones was taken out of last night's game with a back issue - tough start for him this season

DDLS slugging it in AA.. when he connects.. still too many strikeouts. I wonder if he could have figured out how to play OF semi-effectively would the Guardians have kept him over Florial? Maybe just not enough innings for him with the big club.

It's safe to say that Boyd and Hajjar aren't going to amount to anything, but I think there is still time for Brito to turn it around. He's got at least a few more weeks.

Brito is fine, I am not talking about his results this year ar all really, just speaking more to the general success rates of prospects, particularly those who aren't setting their leagues absolutely on fire. He's young and I'd give him way more than a few weeks or months even.

I bet he will have a nice, relaxing rehab in AAA at some point, trying to recreate 2023's progression.

NoJo is an interesting guy. He is super patient without an elite eye. That is just turning into a bunch of called strikes this year.

The Guards great start this year has been compared to the 1966 Indians.
Yeah, the 66 Indians still wound up with a 81-81 record after that fast start.
But the 66 Tribe was one of my favorite teams as a kid.

How about an OF of Leon "Daddy Wags" Wagner, Vic Davalillo, and Rocky Colavito.
Fred "Wingy" Whitfield, Max Alvis, and "Immortal" Joe Azcue also.
SP - "Sudden" Sam McDowell, Sonny Siebert, Luis "El Tiante" Tiant, Gary "Ding-Dong" Bell.
We even had Dick "The Monsta" Radatz in the bullpen.

Back then almost everybody had a nickname.

I agree on the first part, Florial looks the part when he connects, so I'll be patient, but can't say I'm head over heels with him.

Just wondering if DDLS ends up being a "one that got away" guy.
I feel similarly, he's a monster when making contact but otherwise he can go full on windmill with pitches that never had a chance to be called stikes.

Hopefully coach V and teammates patience can rub off on him throughout the course of this season. Really like is upside over Ro-Lo although we could use someone on the right that's got authentic outfield power pop..... I just don't see that being Roman.

That right handed HR bopper role is what we all hope to see Arias grow into in the coming years!
