A quintessential AAAA player.. I loved him too and really wanted him to make it..I was gonna make an off color joke about Andy Marte. But decided against it. Instead I'll just say his career should have been great and it just wasn't. I think he was a triple crown winner in AAA at some point. The guy was amazing but struggled to get ABs in the majors and it's sad.
I was hoping he would be great. He really should have. I think he was traded from Boston for Coco Crisp (top 5 fave Indian of all time [mostly because of name]).A quintessential AAAA player.. I loved him too and really wanted him to make it..
In the last of the Wedgie days as he was pounding his desk for the FO to bring him up to play 1st base.. (Deja vu) They instead sent up Niuman Romero as a FU for ol' Eric... Though they did bring Marte up eventually. Back to AAAA stats he goes.. He played his final days as an Indian in 2010.... That said
Four long years later..
He reemerges as an OF for the Diamondbacks and gets into 6 games... That is all she wrote for Mr. Marte.
He didn't K a lot, took walks and put up excellent numbers in AAA so I am not sure what his deal was.. Stage fright? Always found him to be an intriguing/infuriating player...
Marte always game me a Ted Cox vibe. Not sure why neither of those guys could break through.

yes.. a good poster.. sorry to hear he has caught his comet..Short: Uber prospect but whiffed in the majors.. He was a key piece of the trade that sent Dennis Eckersley to the Red Sox.
He posted somewhat about his failure to succeed, I want to say it was ML breaking pitches that did him in, but don't quote me on that.. @CATS44 @MadThinker88 @Martyinnewyork @Gson @Tondo might know better.
His username was Ghost of Ted Cox..

OH NO. He passed away in March of 2020 - he was a great poster and seemed like a really good fella. RIP Ted.
Anthony Santander threw out Giovanni Urshela at the plate to end the Os/Yankees game last night. Santander also hit a ding dong.
Clint Frazier struggling to start the year, has only a .666 OPS.
In hindsight. Yes. But at the time I was ecstatic for Marte. He was a top prospect at the time and monster at the plate.I'm still pissed Shapiro traded Coco Crisp for Andy Marte. That deal made no sense at the time, and, obviously, turned out to be a flop. I'm also not over Coco having to be pulled from Game 7 of the 2016 WS for Michael Martinez because Yan Gomes flubbed an attempt to throw out Jason Heyward in the top of the 9th.
The Achilles heel of all Indians teamsCox, like Marte was also a 3rd baseman
