Farewell to Jarrett Jack

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

What did he do? I missed it.

Instead of dribbling the clock out while the Wizards didn't defend anymore, he ran to their basket and made a layup...

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Not a fan of his game at all. I thought he would help us when we signed him, but I always thought we overpaid. We could find backup PG's for MUCH cheaper just about every year that will produce at just about the same level.

Hopefully he's just struggling, but there is a reason he could never stick anywhere. Hopefully he isn't a complete fucker and just isn't trying as hard now that he got paid (not saying that is the case, but just a possibility).

He is a bad fit next to Dion and Kyrie. I am getting tired of his contested mid-range jumpers. Does the guy do anything else besides that? That has the potential to be a very UGLY contract. Can't believe we paid a backup that much. If we were going to spend money, I wish we would've took a run at Kevin Martin instead. According to HoopsHype, Martin is basically making the same $ as Jack and he is 10x the player. Just unfortunate. He'd be a great fit next to Kyrie and move Dion to his inevitable 6th man combo guard role.

Irving
Martin
Clark
Thompson
Bynum

Waiters
Miles
Gee
Bennett
Varejao

That looks so much better. Thanks Chris Grant!

Not that Martin would do anything but stand in a corner in the Mike Brown offense anyways. Thanks again CG!!

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Livingston: 21 minutes per game, 8.5 PPG, 59% FG, 3.1 APG, 0.9 TO... makes 1,27 millions this season

.......Jack: 26 minutes per game, 9.8 PPG, 39% FG, 3.4 APG, 2.5 TO... makes 6,30 millions this season

 :banghead:
Those numbers don't even account for how much better he is defensively than JJ. I said earlier I would rather have Livingston on this team and I stand by that comment....

Man, that's brutal.
I miss Livingston.

One thing I like doing is judging an acquisition based on the first 11 games a guy is in our uniform.

If he was just in a shooting slump or something people might be easier on him.

He is probably playing like the single most careless/selfish player on the team. He is only look to get his, and as far as many are concerned that is a character flaw that isn't going to change whether they play 11 games or 80.

The sloppy turnovers (6 last game) are just awful to watch. Some might be explained by getting used to new surroundings, but definitely not all.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

The way Jack is playing is part of the reason I wouldn't mind seeing Dion go to the bench. I think Jack would be better if he played off the ball. When he has the ball he tries to do too much. Bring Dion to the bench, tell Jack to play more of a SG role, and I think it could pay off. Right now Jack is trying to be the main ball handler and the main scorer on the bench. He just isn't good enough to do that.

I know exactly which ones you are talking about, which is why I threw the "careless" part in there along with selfish.

I have seen him ignore the roll guy after a solid pick more times already than I would care to in an entire career.

I am not sure what his problems are beyond the adjustment of getting here, but they need to be dealt with.

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Waiting for someoene to change the title to "Quiet, but deadly sharts — Jarrett Jack"

Re: Quiet, but deadly offseason move by Cavs — Jarrett Jack

Jarret Jacks a lot of midrange jumpers.

The douchebag does not pass the ball to the roller after getting a pick from a big. Point guard? Yeah he looks for his own points alright.....

I want to like him, he seems like a good guy, but why must he play so selfishly?

just thought id throw in some numbers. Im seeing a significant spike in possesions when Waiters is at the 3 with Irving and Jack and jack has spent more time in this lineup than any other.

SOmethings really stick out here. the first inclination is to say well Jacks off the Bench they arent going to be a productive unite. but as we saw the majority of Jacks possesions are in the starter lineup.

We see that the PP are higher with Jack off the floor. The Shooting is better without Jack on the floor and the shot distribution is different. 19 percent of shots from 3 point land. 27% Under the Rim and 24 % from 16 foot with the 16 footers being significantly more effect. (42% to 38%) theres also a bit more shooting from 10-15 foot.

Looking at Jacks Offensive shot selection 40% of his shots are from 16 ft + range. which is a decent clip.

Where he is struggling is 10-15 feet. Id like to see his assist percentage at a healthy 28% plus. something he is more than capable of.

I get that, but he was brought in to look to score. Having Miles, Clark, Bennett, and Andy surrounding him on the 2nd unit is probably not helping him.

He's looked rough, I'm just saying - let's wait longer than 11 games to assess it as a "deadly" move.
