Re: The Road to Wrestlemania - Predictions

Vince is getting what he wants out of The Rock. The Rock may not be there to address the fans, but he's all around the world taking photos with the WWE Title over his shoulder. At the end of the day, The Rock is a vehicle used by the WWE brass to draw attention to their product and to WrestleMania. Why do you think WWE Studios is now latching onto other movie productions like a leech attempting to get some of their wrestlers two-bit parts? It's all about exposure and growing the bottom dollar.

It does irritate me because I felt that CM Punk had done a fabulous job legitimizing the WWE Title during his historic reign. It's sad how the title has been reduced back to a merchandising prop.

Re: The Road to Wrestlemania - Predictions

Does it piss anybody else off that the Rock hasn't been on in like a month and he's the WWE Champion....i don't see Rock vs Cena being the main event......Lesnar/HHH or Taker/Punk is deserving of the last match

Like it or not, the big $ money match is Rock/Cena & it will be in the main event slot, no doubt.

Re: The Road to Wrestlemania - Predictions

Im in the minority of the Streak. I want the Undertaker to lose but I know he will win. For those of you who are degenerate gamblers Bodog which is now Bovada was taking WM bets a few years ago. If they are doing bets again Im betting the farm on Taker :chuckles:

I remember there being ridiculous odds on the Michael Cole/Jerry Lawler match. Cole ended up winning by DQ or something. Should've at least put $10 on it in hindsight.

CM Punk is legitimately injured right now though, not like it matters because the rock isn't defending the title on Raw.

If I were a WWE exec, I'd be betting on this stuff yearly.

Re: The Road to Wrestlemania - Predictions

The Wrestlemania "Season" has been disappointing so far but there is still 2 weeks left for the remaining build for WM29. Yeah people can complain about The Rock not being there but he has brought a ton of mainstream attention over the past couple years since he came back. He is going all over the world to promote his movies in which he will talk about the WWE a bit and have the belt with him sometimes which will get the casual fan or non fans interested in it. The Rock wrestling at Wrestlemania and being the champion brings the WWE more attention and definitely more money between more people watching, more advertising dollars and more PPV buys. This in turn also gives all the other wrestlers more money in their paychecks.

Of course Cena is going to win because The Rock won last year and its Cena's turn to get the win back and he hasnt been champion in a year and a half. I dont mind Cena at all, yeah his character is stale but why change something that some people and kids love and brings huge attention for all the stuff he does and tons of money into the company It is a business. Cena/Rock II will be the main event.

Triple H-Brock- Triple H will get his win back from SummerSlam especially with the career on the line angle.

Punk/Taker- Taker will extend the streak to 21-0. I really dont think anyone will break the streak. The only reason to break it would be to build up a young star and I dont think Punk needs it. I think Taker retires next year at 22-0 at Wrestlemania 30.

I think Ziggler and Langston will win the Tag Titles from Kane and Bryan which leads to the break up of Team Hell No. Then later in the show Del Rio defeats Swagger and Ziggler will be the 1st to cash in at Wrestlemania and wins the title.

The Shield will win the 6 man tag and it will lead to an Orton heel turn either at WM or very soon after.

Ryback and Mark Henry will be a 10 minute snoozer. I like Henry and he really stepped up his game during his championship run a couple years ago but I dont see the appeal in Ryback. yeah he is huge and a monster but its not suited as a face. He should have been a monster heel and he works too recklessly and stiff.

Re: The Road to Wrestlemania - Predictions

I honestly thought the Undertaker died because I thought Paul Bearer was one of his aliases.

Re: The Road to Wrestlemania - Predictions

Whats your guys' favorite wrestlemania of all time?

Re: The Road to Wrestlemania - Predictions

As far as predictions go:

Rock vs Cena
It's pretty clear that the plan has been for Cena to win the belt from the Rock at this Mania. I just don't know where Cena goes from here. Punk needs some time off & some time away from the title picture & Rock will move on. There's only so much more they can do with Cena & the title.

C.M Punk vs Undertaker
The streak will live. I see Punk trying to win at any & all costs. Count out, DQ, whatever it takes. At this point in his career, Undertaker needs to be in there with people who know how to work, and him & Punk will put on a hell of a match. Despite nobody believing Punk will win, there's no doubt in my mind that they'll make the near falls as believable as they've been the past 4 years. I honestly don't think Punk would be in this match if he didn't believe that they can pull it off on a believability factor.

On a related topic, I think Undertaker retires at WrestleMania 30. If it were me, I'd put him in a WWE Title match. Have him win the title & do his pose. The lights go out, come back on, and the title is lying in the middle of the ring with Undertaker nowhere to be found.

HHH vs Brock Lesnar
Things got a little more interesting with HHH's career being put on the line and everybody knowing he's getting groomed as the man to takeover backstage. Before that stipulation, it was clear to me that HHH was gonna win to get his redemption. Now, I can see Brock winning in order to build him up even more by being the guy to end HHH's career. In the end, I still think HHH gets the win & redemption, but a Brock beating follows.

The Shield vs Randy Orton, Sheamus, & Big Show
The Shield win, and Orton turns heel after the match.

Alberto Del Rio vs Jack Swagger
Not sure why Swagger gets away with not getting suspended after his DUI, but before that, I would've said Swagger all the way. He was being built up big time & I think they were ready to push him to the moon. Now, I think it's a possibility that they have him lose here as his punishment, but make him look dominant in defeat and give him the belt at the next PPV.

Kane & Daniel Bryan vs Dolph Ziggler & Big E. Langston
Toss up here. Kane & Bryan's run has pretty much run its course, but I don't see Dolph getting the tag titles when he still has the MITB briefcase & is ready for his big push. In the end, I think Dolph & Langston win the titles, but lose them relatively quickly. Kane & Bryan end up feuding for a little while over the loss.

Ryback vs Mark Henry
Henry had the big title run a while back, but unfortunately his injury stopped him. I think Ryback takes it here.

Re: The Road to Wrestlemania - Predictions

There isn't a match other than Punk/Taker that I want to see. There's like a 99.9999% chance that Rock loses, and the WWE is trying very hard to build up the Shield, so they'll win their match.

Re: The Road to Wrestlemania - Predictions

After the amount of character rape that happened to Cena on monday, I can see him turning heel into a new character or something. I get that he wants redemption but he's too pathetic right now. He's lost all sympathy.

Re: The Road to Wrestlemania - Predictions

Cena is not turning heel. It's a smark's wet dream, but it's terrible business. The amount of kiddie merch and charity work Cena does would all go by the wayside with a heel turn.
