On an unrelated note, the Vaudevillains have totally won me over. Their gimmick is stupid, but they make it work. They also work together like an actual tag team and not two guys thrown together because the WWE didn't know what to do with them in singles competition.
So are we to assume that Blake and Murphy will be getting the call-up to the main roster now, having dropped their belts? It's no secret that the WWE tag team division is really fucking weak right now and they are a pretty solid heel team.
I want to say no, because they're boring as fuck to watch, but yeah, probably.
you say owens/cesaro might be the match of the year then go on to say Owens cant cut it ?
The guy who dropped the MGK into a table.has nothing to make stand out.
These guys can get the sales if they get the chance. Owens headlines NXT to biggest drawing events and he sells merchandise.
one key thing about Owens is he can sell a match against anyone heel or face and he can bring in crows whether he is wrestling in the WWE or helping a new brand like GFW establish this self
We need to establish the difference between being match of the year in terms of technically a great match (see Ly... Bayley v Banks) and having a a huge match (brock v taker). Cesaro/Owens will be the first.
Another key thing to establish is that selling merch in NXT to marks and selling merch at Raw to moms are two different things. All these indy guys sell merch at NXT, because thats the show we like to watch. Owens isn't selling merch to Moms for their kids, or even to teens. When you scan an audience, KO shirts are on 20-40 year old dudes.
I love Kevin Steen. I think he's fucking hysterical, can talk of the top, and can just flat out go. But his gimmick is kind of weak. A prize fighter to bring home a paycheck for his family is a face gimmick, but they awkwardly tried to flip in as heel. It worked in NXT because he fucked up El Generico with the apron bomb, and Generico sold it.
It stopped working when he does it all the time and goes for it constantly.
