This coming from the guy who was quick to call me out for talking about the line in camp. Then posts an article stating the line in camp is where the issues began and calling it “a great breakdown”
Step back for a bit bud your Mayfield hate hard on schtick is getting old.
Why?
Where is that getting us?
my god this fanbase is going fucking insane.
If Baker continues this trend and level of play, why in the world wouldn't you explore bringing in another QB this off-season?
I mean you simply have to be better at this position. And if your football IQ is so low that practice pass rush forces you to be this bad, then its a pretty good sign that your QB doesn't have what it takes to win at this level.
I’m just picturing a wide-eyed Baker at a retirement conference admitting that staring down the barrel of a Myles Garrett and Larry Ogunjobi pass rush in shorts was too overwhelming for him. And that he knew after the second batted pass that it was going to be a long sophomore season and that he just wasnt enjoying the game anymore.
I mean record setting levels of success as a rookie seem like a good reason for replacement. If Baker continues this trend and level of play, why in the world wouldn't you explore bringing in another QB this off-season?

Take a deep breath.
Peyton Manning had to face Dwight Freeney in practice in Year 5

The real problem is that rolling to the right when his first read fails and pressure comes is a tic that Baker has had his entire career.I know the name of the game is to make TripleThreat look dumb at all costs, but let's be realistic about what he and Jake Burns are suggesting.
It is very likely that Baker realized throughout training camp and through the first 5 weeks of the season that his offensive line sucks. It's not all-time bad, but it's bad.
Low football IQ would be if Baker was oblivious to this fact.
So it stands to reason that the young QB could be overly focused on the poor performance of his offensive line, and in turn that fear/concern is consuming way too much brain/processing capacity right now and is hindering his ability to play the position.
There are two ways to fix this: 1) be patient and let the kid adjust & 2) address the offensive line.
#1 will hopefully happen over the course of the season, and hopefully sooner than later. #2 will likely have to wait until the offseason...but you'd hope that the o-line gels as the season progresses and can move from being terrible to being simply below average.

I'm sorry, but this is just excuse making for a level of play that has been unacceptable for a QB.
Get rid of the ball, stop being gun shy and NOT throwing it as we've seen on tape. If you're that skiddish about the offensive line plan, then he wouldn't be so hesitant to let it fly as often as we've seen.
It's just a terrible excuse that would signify, if nothing else, a mentally fragile QB who has been completely unable to adjust his game to the point that elevates his play to an acceptable level.
