Game 1 | Cavs (0-0) vs Knicks (0-1) | October 30, 2014 | 8pm EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I thought this summed it up pretty well:

"I hate turning the ball over," James said. "It’s a pet peeve of mine and eight is definitely something that’s not OK." The Cavs did play at a slow pace tonight at just 83 possessions, which is much worse than the last-place Grizzlies at 92.3 from 2013-14. All that said, if you're panicking about LeBron after just one game, fantasy basketball is not for you. He'll be fine. Oct 31 - 12:05 AM

Good things happen when we play faster and with more energy.

Halfcourt ball is not the way to play when you're still trying to build chemistry. It also puts too much pressure on the defensive side of the ball, which we're not good enough or comfortable yet to count on getting stops consistently.

They may start 0-3 and I won't be worried.

I will be worried if they're about to miss the playoffs.

It is going to take time to gel. The Knicks played fucking LIGHTS OUT last night and it still required the Cavs to suck ass + the world's best to be a liability in order for them to squeak out a win.

I was at the game last night, and it was one of the most unbelievable days and experiences I've ever had in sports, even with the loss.

Downtown was PACKED! Shoulder to shoulder, wall to wall. We got to the East Garage about 3:15, and 10 minutes later they put out signs that it was full.

Kendrick Lamar show and the fan fest area was super well done and awesome to see.

I put together a whole post about the new tech at the Q in the "Q renovations and improvements" thread, but long story short, Humongotron beyond awesome, sound system okay. Wifi was actually working great too.

Oh, and come playoff time, you might need earplugs at the game. It was deafening early in the game. Unfortunately it turned to a nervous quiet after we started sucking, but I don't even care. I just can't believe this is our team, and that we are going to be on top of the NBA for the better part of the next decade.

Performance-wise, Ive said over and over, both on here and to friends, that we are gonna have a slow, nerve wracking start. Just like Miami did. They were .500 through Christmas in 2010, and I wouldnt be surprised if we are too. We are gonna have worse losses than this. I just wish yesterday wasn't one of them, but oh well. If I'm at the Q in June I couldn't possibly care less about yesterday's result.

But after Christmas? I'll be shocked if we lose more than about 9 games between then and the end of the year.

Thank you for this post. I can't figure out why everyone is panicking and ready to start throwing blame around liberally after we lost last night.

Yeah, Lebron didn't play great, but how many times in his career do you think he's going to have a game like that? Almost never. Other than that, you know, I thought the guys played ok. Dion, Andy, Kyrie all played fine. Love played great, I thought.

There weren't any red flags last night, just a team that got too excited with unfamiliarity, turned the ball over a lot, didn't shoot great, and had its superstar play a horrible game. So the 82-0 dream is over, I guess. :chuckle:

Throughout the first month or so, it'll be a lot of feeling each other out. We'll have some great wins and some horrible losses I'm sure, but I see no reason this won't come together beautifully in the end. I don't even feel terrible about the loss last night. I didn't expect it, but it's not shocking or alarming to me. I'm just excited that I get to watch Lebron, Love, and Kyrie all share the same court.

I get that the game result is ultimately meaningless, but was it really too much to ask to beat a bad team who was on a road b2b? Couldn't we have this nice thing just this one time?

Refs didn't cost us shit. I can't believe people are saying shit like this. Our offense looked great for a 4-5 min burst and has looked like dogshit the rest of the game. It doesn't matter if LeBron isn't playing well.

If LeBron has to play well for the Cavs to win, then what is the point of having Kyrie, Waiters, Love, etc.? We're supposed to be able to rely on those guys too.
Refs were calling a lot of flops. The Knicks did some good acting and got away with it. I certainly wouldn't say they cost us the game, running the offense for the first 6 minutes then abandoning it cost us the game.

Ok. Share some of it with me, cause I'm not too sure what you're referring to.

We could go back through the first time you were banned to find some gems.

But generally you're one of the shittiest posters this site's ever seen.

That rant last night may have been your crowning moment though, you've really been training to appear an even bigger moron than the first time you were put in your place by people way smarter than you.

I wonder how much of that was due to the Knicks playing slower. They seemed to have a lot of 20+ second possessions

Very interested to see how they bounce back and play tonight. Thank God it's a long season. They'll figure it out.

Wow, just read up on everything. Collectively, the posters on here are horrible. There are only about 5 posters who should have an account.

The knicks are terrible. And if we where facing any of the top teams in the west we would've lost by 20.

LeBron owes me $50...

I had the Cavs -12. Not cool dude, not freaking cool. I trusted you when you said..."this is going to be one of the biggest games ever!" and you showed laying eggs all over the place with 8 turnovers?

No he was just awful, 8 turnovers isn't good enough. No point sugar coating or blaming someone else for his performance because he's lebron james. It Was his worst ever performance IMO. And like I said in his thread I expect a better one tonight.

I was more responding to the Cavs pace being 10 possessions slower than last year's Griz

So were the 76ers when they beat the Heat last year. When you make the garbage shots they were making, it doesn't matter how bad you are.
