From Joe Gabrielle's post-game report on the Kyrie quote:

Only three games into the season, an Indiana reporter took the stupid question of the year prize – asking Kyrie Irving “how (he was) doing after missing the game-winning shot.” A calm, collected Irving snugged his necktie and responded, “I’m doing well. How are you?”

Still can't believe Irving missed that shot. That would have been a nice confidence booster for him. I saw him split the double and have a wide open lane, I stood up and started celebrating..... And then he went David Wesley on us. Damn shame. Probably the worst missed attempt at a game winning shot of all time. Can't ask for an easier shot than that.

Oh well. He played great. At the end of the season, who knows, this loss could help us in the draft. I just hope Kyrie doesn't let it get him down.

I agree with you a lot... but this is the worst post of the thread.

Sure, that should have gone in but that was no different than about 1,000 mishaps that I have seen in this league. Especially for an early season game.

we can be disappointed by the missed shot at the end f the game and the loss in OT, however this game can easily be seen as a moral victory

we took an up an coming to Indiana team to OT

this was a coming out game for Kyrie

alonzo Gee continues to play well

I want to see TT play with Kyrie

Can't say I have ever seen someone miss a wide open layup to win the game. All I am saying is that you can't ask for an easier shot to win the game than that and he missed it. I am not saying it was the most meaningful missed game winner of all time or anything. Just saying it was probably the easiest game winning shot you can possibly miss.

i was just too busy laughing at jamisons early celebration then realising the shot had missed.

i know it might sound weird but for kyries development he needs to fall short at this stage in his career to give him the experience needed to lead the team in the future. I hope byron just went up to him and reminded him and the entire team that FT's win games.

I recorded the game, and saw the shot after reading all this. It's too bad he missed that, and it WAS an open layup, but it wasn't nearly as open as I thought from reading this. He had to split two defenders, then double clutch in midair to avoid a taller defender and make him miss. He should have made it, he'll make those in the future, but it wasn't THAT easy. Just sayin'.
