Game #40 | Cavaliers @ Kings | Monday Jan. 14, 2013 | 10:00 pm ET

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think the goal might have been for Waiters to drive and kick the ball to Kyrie, but Waiters got stopped, had no good passing outlets, and had to pull up. Still, he should have just shot the three.

Waiters should have gone LeWaiters at that point. :chuckles:

But I agree that things looked like they got tangled. If they wanted to get it to Irving, they needed to have better timing and set a real pick. I do think it was a rare situation where Irving did not have the ball from the start in a situation like that. Good thing on a night like tonight even though it got mucked up.

See, had Kyrie even played remotely decent we win. He's got young talent around him, he needs to realize that and act accordingly (meaning not demand off-season moves as if he's all alone).

No he doesn't. Kyrie and Dion don't play well together which is why I like having Dion come off the bench. TT is starting to play ok but he still needs a ton of work to be consistent. Aside from Kyrie, every player on this team can be replaced. The Cavs don't have young talent when those players are not even a lock to be our future starters at their respected positions.

LOL at Byron Scott. We ran basically a top of the key pick and roll every single time down the stretch even after a time out. What the hell is that. While the Kings ran their sets. Being out coached by Keith Smart is not good, not good.

Ultimately, we were beaten by the same things that beat us last night. We currently have no one on the roster to guard big, powerful centers. Its even worse when they are skilled like Dwight and Cousins. We are left with Tristan guarding out of position or throwing Zeller to the wolves.

But they may not always play bad together. Things take awhile to jell and feel each other out. To much impatience. Let the process play out.

I actually think if Dion runs the last play in order to get Irving an open look, that's basically our best possible outcome. If Irving goes iso, defenses aren't going to just give him a three. However, if Waiters can draw his man in and kick it out, that's perfect.

I will say, I'm starting to question Scott a bit for the first time. Not because of the losses, but his offensive and defensive strategies.

There is zero reason why Kyrie and Dion shouldn't be driving and dishing to each other. That shit should be looking like Mo and Delonte on steroids.

Love Dion's shot selection tonight, and love Tristans continued solid play.

He had an "okay" 17/15 tonight and he's been consistent for weeks. Not saying he can't get better, but this stretch has been very encouraging. If he puts in a "ton of work", he is going to be more than consistent.

Do you watch the games? TT has been playing consistently better the past 15 games.

How many teams has Keith Smart taken to the finals?

Completely agree. They should figure out ways to maximize their combined skills instead of taking turns running the same plays. There were a few times it worked out tonight, but at least one was a broken play. If Waiters is going to make some forward steps in his play, though, there is just no reason not to design some stuff to get them punishing teams that double one or the other.

And we scored 118 points tonight. Why are we bitching about play calling? Seems to me the offense did a fine job.

We really need to find another center so next year if/when Andy gets hurt again we aren't going to sink with it. Tristan needs to stick to the 4.

Kyrie understands a rebuild takes time...he's a smart kid. We are developing our young players this year. We will have 4 top 35 picks in this next draft...one in the top 5 likely...and a truck full of cap space. Guys like CJ, Walton and Casspi are being shopped for teams looking to cut payroll. AND Andy is out. The team will be greatly improved next season and we will be major players in the 2014 free agency bonanza. Next year playoffs. Following years contenders.

Curious...how do you see this team being greatly improved and a playoff team next year? Not trying to be a dick, honestly want to know. If they are going to be a players in '14 free agency they aren't going to sign anyone worthwhile in '13 in order to preserve cap space. I think Waiters and Thompson will become decent players, probably better suited for the bench. I can't see them being top 3-4 players on a playoff team next year, even in a weak eastern conference. The bench is currently a joke. Unless the Top 5 pick is a life-changer like Kyrie, I just don't see how the team is going to greatly improve enough for them to make the playoffs.

Just noticed that Waiters had 0 turnovers and 5 assists in 29 minutes.
