Preview
Warriors Team Report - Yahoo! Sports
With wins over the Suns, Celtics and Kings in their last three home games, the Warriors would like to believe they're on the verge of something big on their seven-game homestand that began Friday night.

With the Cavaliers coming to town Monday, we'll soon find out.

The Warriors will enter Monday's game playing their best ball of the season and riding one of their few winning streaks. And seeing LeBron James shouldn't be as intimidating as you might think.

First off, the Warriors gave the Cavaliers a battle down to the wire in Cleveland in November, losing 114-108 despite suiting up just eight players.

And the Warriors have played the Cavaliers tough the last four times they've come to Oakland, thumping Cleveland by 20 four years ago before losing by a total of seven points the last three seasons.

The Warriors began the homestand as healthy as they've been all season, but things changed in Friday's win over Sacramento when Anthony Randolph landed on an opponent's foot and badly sprained his left ankle. The initial diagnosis was a possible fracture, prompting further tests Saturday.

But at least the rest of the Warriors should be well-rested. They will have had two days off leading into the game, whereas the Cavaliers will be playing their third game in four nights out West, a trip that began with a rough loss Friday at Denver. The Warriors will see the Cavaliers on the second night of a back-to-back, with Cleveland having been in Portland the night before.

Improved play, a favorable schedule and a tired opponent. Will that be enough for an 11-24 club to challenge the mighty Cavaliers?

At least it should be interesting.

Nice preview, love some of the pics.

We'll need Delonte to make Ellis work hard.

It won't be an easy game. Not an easy place to play and the Warriors can score the basketball.

We need to dig down and come up with a W.

Shaq, Shaq, Shaq, Shaq, Shaq, and more Shaq.

Then just try to outlast them when they go ridiculously small. :D

Nice thread, Warren.

But fix that record, it's 29-10 now!

Good thing they don't have a healthy roster or the running game would be a REAL problem. But they can't keep it up when they have 8 guys or so healthy. And also a good thing that we have REAL depth to throw at them, I think we'll be pleasantly surprised.

  1. Five of the guys who played tonight only got run for half the game or less. Their energy will be needed.
  2. The two centers can help carry a little more of the load in the post.
  3. Boobie can play since these guys are small.
  4. Anthony can give us a lift, I believe.
  5. And LeBron was able to get 3 minutes of rest. I think he'll be able to play JUST enough to have an impact. Be wary of sluggishness from the star early on...

loving suns girl making appearances despites the suns no longer being on the schedule

You did me proud, Warren. I LOVE that pic of Nellie... sums him up so well.

This game will be all about controlling the pace, and that is done on the defensive end.

Nice game thread!

Will be a tough back to back, need to control the tempo.

Crazy that this will be our 40th game already??? I bet we have played the most games in the league so far.

Very appreciative of the feedback, fellas.

Cam - Thanks for catching the season record that I forgot to update after tonight's win. It's been amended there and in Mike Brown's career summary.

Gordon - The Suns girl just seemed to belong in that little photographic arrangement...who am I to argue?

nime - I was actually at that game, surrounded by Warriors fans. One guy even started trying to tough-talk me on the way out because I had a LeBron jersey on.

The Warriors may indeed suffer from depth issues, but their status as giant-killers precedes them. Although I would have liked to see what Moon could do in this setting, I'm perfectly happy that Jawad has more chances to earn his chops as another energy guy and defender.

Any chance Jawad starts considering the mismatch at PF with Hickson vs. Maggette?

Warriors have made Cavs work the past matchups

a high scoring team with perimeter jumpers...

they need to take advantage of their size

I was there too... probably my favorite Cavs memory.

What are you doing for the game tomorrow, Warren? I don't have a ticket this time around.

I forgot to snag a ticket for this game too, Keys. I'll likely be watching at home with my roommate, a big Warriors fan who's also respectful of my Cavalier obsession. He'll usually even pull for the Cavs when they're not playing Golden State.
