Warriors Team Report - Yahoo! Sports
With wins over the Suns, Celtics and Kings in their last three home games, the Warriors would like to believe they're on the verge of something big on their seven-game homestand that began Friday night.
With the Cavaliers coming to town Monday, we'll soon find out.
The Warriors will enter Monday's game playing their best ball of the season and riding one of their few winning streaks. And seeing LeBron James shouldn't be as intimidating as you might think.
First off, the Warriors gave the Cavaliers a battle down to the wire in Cleveland in November, losing 114-108 despite suiting up just eight players.
And the Warriors have played the Cavaliers tough the last four times they've come to Oakland, thumping Cleveland by 20 four years ago before losing by a total of seven points the last three seasons.
The Warriors began the homestand as healthy as they've been all season, but things changed in Friday's win over Sacramento when Anthony Randolph landed on an opponent's foot and badly sprained his left ankle. The initial diagnosis was a possible fracture, prompting further tests Saturday.
But at least the rest of the Warriors should be well-rested. They will have had two days off leading into the game, whereas the Cavaliers will be playing their third game in four nights out West, a trip that began with a rough loss Friday at Denver. The Warriors will see the Cavaliers on the second night of a back-to-back, with Cleveland having been in Portland the night before.
Improved play, a favorable schedule and a tired opponent. Will that be enough for an 11-24 club to challenge the mighty Cavaliers?
At least it should be interesting.
