Game Preview – Friday February 19, 2010 – Cleveland Cavaliers @ Charlotte Bobcats
Well, it had to end sometime folks. The Cavaliers’ franchise tying 13 game win streak came to a screeching halt last night, as Denver defeated the Cavaliers, 118-116 in OT, with LeBron James missing a 3 at the horn for the win. The Cavaliers averaged 103.9 points per game over the win streak, allowing just 93.8. Out of the 13 games, the Clevelanders reached 100 ten (10) times. Their opponents, meanwhile, had more games where they scored less than 90 (5) than games where they scored 100+ (4). There were 5 double digit wins involved in the streak, and 10 wins by 5 or more points. 10 times the Cavaliers held their opponents to under 50% shooting, 5 of those times it was under 40%. It was definitely an unbelievable run.
The Cavaliers, of course, are coming off their overtime loss at the hands of the Nuggets. LeBron James had a stat line for the ages, as he delivered 43 points, 13 rebounds, 15 assists, 2 steals, & 4 blocks, becoming the 1st player in NBA history to achieve such a feat, and the 1st player since Oscar Robertson to have at least 40 points, 15 assists, and 13 rebounds in a game. Mo Williams made his return, coming off the bench, but played on 18 minutes. Shaq added 18 points & 7 rebounds on 9-15 shooting, while J.J Hickson & Anthony Parker combined for 27 points on 9-15 shooting.
The Bobcats are coming off of a 103-94 loss to the lowly Nets, in a game where they never held a lead. Gerald Wallace led the way with 21 points & 10 rebounds, with Boris Diaw adding 19 & 11. Raymond Felton scored 18 on just 9 shot attempts, to go along with his 5 rebounds & 4 assists. Stephen Jackson struggled in the loss, scoring 15 points on 7-20 shooting, 0-6 from downtown.
