Game 6 | Cavaliers vs Bulls | November 5, 2009 | 8:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wow, great thread Splitz. Lovin the graphics

If Rose starts to break away from Mo, do what we did to Arenas last night, stick Delonte on him.

Excellent thread Splitz. Echoing the sentiment with the graphics - very sweet.

Tyrus Thomas listed as 'out' for the game 'flu'

Update from practice: Tyrus Thomas did not practice today (flu) and will not make the trip to Cleveland for Thursday night's game vs. Cavs

Thanks, slipped your update into the game thread.

Perfect game for the Twin towers as long as Miller's not in the game. The Bulls do not have the size or strength to battle Shaq and Z down low. We'll go all Gasol n' Bynum on 'em.

i really liked the defense the cavs played in the second half on the wizards, we're starting to see some very complex and effective rotations. It will be great to see how they use AP and moon to match up with the wing scorers of chicago. Obviously rose will challenge our help defense on the interior. Windy hinted at Mo aiming to become a bettter defender this season, so this will be a nice test, he didnt do an outstanding job on arenas.

great thread splitz...this should be another game for shaq to feast on

Something I never really thought of until now but... why is it called the Twin Towers? Maybe the "two towers," but Shaq is black and Z is Casper white. Maybe it was an "all bald people look alike" thing.

I think it was W&G or Windy who suggested the "twin towers" nickname.

Nope. It's a known term in the NBA for two 7 footers who play at the same time. It's not a new term at all. Lots of teams have done, but few made constant success off of it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_Towers_(NBA)

Here's the famed combos:

  • 79 Champions Supersonics: Jack Sikma and Marvin Webster
  • 86 Western Conference Champions Rockets: Ralph Sampson and Hakeem Olajuwon (formerly "Akeem")
  • Late 80s Knicks: Bill Cartwright and Patrick Ewing
  • 99 and 03 Champion Spurs: David Robinson and Tim Duncan
  • Last Year's Raptors: Jermaine O'Neal and Chris Bosh
  • 09 Champion Lakers: Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol
  • Current 76ers: Samuel Dalembert and Theo Ratliff
The Cavs are treading that water a little with Z and Shaq, but we'll see...

Well Ben Gordon isnt playing and he used to tear us up the most. We will kill this game.

Tyrus Thomas
Sick

Chicago Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas did not practice Wednesday and will not accompany the team to Cleveland for Thursday's game against the Cavaliers.
"Tyrus is sick. He showed up this morning, he's still pretty sick," Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro said. "He's at home.
"He'll see a doctor today and tomorrow and then we'll re-evaluate and see if he can fly into Cleveland, but he's pretty sick still."
Del Negro sounded doubtful Thomas can meet the team in Cleveland.
"Maybe. I don't know," he said. "Let's just see how it goes. See how he feels. He's pretty sick, though. So we just want to make sure he gets healthy."
Thomas was sent home Tuesday morning from Berto Center during the Bulls' shootaround. He was going to show up at United Center for the Bulls' game against the Milwaukee Bucks, but he never made it.

^I just so happened to do this game as well. Enjoy for what its worth y'all.

Hey guys, please take the time to rep rapposda for the work he did on this preview. We both ended up scheduled for the same game and this was his first preview. Thanks.

I hate the twin towers go small with Shaq in the middle and you still have enough force in the middle to punish Chicago combined with great ball movement and shooting on the outside.

Deng and Lebron will be an interesting matchup. The Bulls have two of the more competent player who can match up with James in Deng/Salmons. Still Lebron has gotten his way against the Bulls but on the flip side Deng has had some very good games on the Cavs as well.

I don't think we'll be seeing any twin tower action against the Bulls. Noah and Taj Gibson would run down the entire court before Shaq and Z made it past the half court line.
