Game 6 | Cavaliers vs Pacers Nov. 7th, 7:30PM (ET)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Great win, obvious lack of energy in the beginning of the game and i almost thought they might turn it on a little to late. But here comes Andy to the rescue, he basically willed us to victory today with his energy.....

Wally played great, he played very well on both ends of the floor. He always has one play where he embarrasses himself but i guess we will allow it as long as we win. Ben didn't seem to have it tonight so MB played him less in this game which payed off.

West had another solid game, sometimes i forget the guy is on the floor then you look at the stat sheet and see he had another good showing. Mo played good offensively except for the turnovers, sometimes i think he tries to do too much with his passing. Five turnovers is too many, hopefully thats just him still trying to get more accustomed with his new teammates and those numbers will go down.

But overall great win, its good to get tested like this early on....

I expect us to come out more focus tomorrow and beat the bulls again.

One positive is that LBJ always tears it up against the Bulls. I expect that jumper to start falling at about a 35% clip tomorrow (not high but it was like 17% the other day). Last time he had 40 this time he will only need 35 because Boobie will step up.

Yep. And I bet I know the exact play you're talking about too.

Wally barely catches the ball in the low post, drops it, and then tries to play it off as if he's making a move. And then when he tries to back into the lane he trips, loses the ball, tries to get it back, but loses it again...was that the one you're talking about?

But then later in the game he takes it to the hole and makes a nice moving jumper...

As someone who originally hated the idea of Wally getting playing time, I think his positives are outweighing his old man tendancies. He sometimes reminds me of when my Dad would try to play basketball with us when I was in high school. You could tell my dad used to have skills, but his body didn't support his desire to win anymore...it's sad really when you watch him out there -- the dude wants to compete so badly -- at least he has heart.

Haha yea exactly...

That game was like sex without foreplay

Started out too rough to enjoy, your just not in it, but kinda going through the motions. Poking around if you will.

Next thing you know, your opponent starts talking shit and its time to unleash the beast!

LOL

I might have to temporarily shift my man love focus from Delonte to Andy.

Z was +5 tonight.

I mean, dont let facts get in the way of a good narrative.

I mean, why mention Ben Wallace's zero rebounds and -17 in 19 minutes when you can bash Z?

Duh.

I did mention that Ben and Z were not effective against the faster attacking Pacers. We were outrebounded last night. Or is that a fact YOU missed? You would think a 7 foot 3 guy would at least dominate the boards.

He had 4 rebounds. As many as Delonte. In 29 minutes. Against who? Roy "the statue" Hibbert who had 9 rebounds in 19 minutes.

And let's not forget the great passing big man theory. One assist for the black hole. One in 29 minutes. He does not pass the ball back out once he gets it down low. This is true of his recent career.

But what the hell. Stats are meaningless. He was +5 (the new defense for a weak individual performance surrounded by better players).

Here are the top 2 +/- guys this season:

A. Kirilenko Jazz 347 -273 74 162:06 .456 5
M. Chalmers Heat 372 -300 72 162:00 .444 5

For last year's Cavs:

L. James Cavaliers 6,242 -6,105 137 3026:47 .045 75
D. Gibson Cavaliers 3,574 -3,479 95 1765:27 .053 58
A. Varejao Cavaliers 2,572 -2,498 74 1319:26 .056 48
D. Jones Cavaliers 2,702 -2,640 62 1336:06 .046 67
Z. Ilgauskas Cavaliers 4,396 -4,340 56 2221:50 .025 73
J. Smith Cavaliers 1,209 -1,154 55 580:14 .094 27
D. West Cavaliers 1,619 -1,588 31 806:17 .038 26
W. Szczerbiak Cavaliers 1,087 -1,074 13 556:25 .023 25

Anybody care to ask how Damon was higher than Z last season???? Maybe becuase this stat is over used to protect weaker players?

Not to bring up an old thread, but here's what Indy Coach O'Brien said about the free throw differential. Courtest of of realgm.com here's some crying over spoiled milk:

Pacers' head coach Jim O'Brien was upset over the free throw differential his team suffered from against the Cavaliers on Friday night.

Indiana shot just 11 free throws, compared to 28 for Cleveland.

"The 17 free throw differential was the difference in the game," O'Brien said. "We only shot 11 foul shots, and they shot 28. A very physical game with a team that takes it to the rack as much as we do and to only get to the foul line 11 times, that's puzzling to me."

A reporter pointed out that the Pacers also had 24 turnovers, but O'Brien remained focused on the free throws.

"The fact that they had 28 free throws and we had 11, I just shake my head at that one," he responded, obviously not thinking about his team's 24 turnovers. "I'm just going to continue to scratch my head over that one.

"It's not my job to grade the officials," O'Brien added. "They get graded by their people. To run a moving offense where there's as much cutting, as much driving as we do to only get 11 foul shots and they have 28 is just unbelievable. I can't fathom that happening in a game where we take it as hard as we do and cut as hard as we do. I'm completely dumbfounded."

Yeah. Those turnovers are killer. And besides, it's not like the Pacers were in it the whole time. I don't see the big deal here (of course I do have a little bit of a bias).

They were also in the bonus with 8 minutes left in the fourth lol what an idiot. He's going to regret looking so stupid.

Honestly without Z in the first half we lost simple as that. He was easily our best player early on while everyone struggled.

On a side note DWest is going crazy from beyond 3 guys lets watch that over the next few games.

We do not know what would have happened if the Big Z passed it out from the post a few times. We could have been more effecient. Big Z does not pass out of the post ever. I mean he is 7'3" so there isn't many players he cant get his shot off against. But still, there has to be times when there is a better shot out there then a sweeping 'side hook' against 2 players.

Yes I really hated that he just threw it at the rim a couple times when he was doubled, but he really was our only offense in the first quarter.
