Game 7: Cavs @ Thunder November 11, 7:00 pm EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hi. All but sure we played LeBron entire games before during his first two seasons in the league, both seasons in which we went nowhere.
We all know how that turned out. Lets move on.

byron scott just said waiters was essentially a dnp-cd in the 4th quarter.

When asked why Dion sat and if it was "Something with Dion or Boobie playing well" Byron responded "both, and we'll leave it at that".

To me, and I freely admit I could be wrong (and hope I am) Byron is punishing Waiters for something. Scott on a power trip and being an asshole to a promising rookie when the game was on the line.

Typical Pat Shurmur answer.

They have a game on Tuesday and then a long break until their next game on Saturday (first of a back-to-back). Hopefully we'll see the team looking healthier by next weekend.

That's good to know, I hadn't checked the schedule beyond Brooklyn.

If we trade Andy like many propose, I hope they're content with being top 3 in the lottery. I trust Grant to build a decent bench. Some of these guys aren't even backups, they belong overseas or the ABA.

+1 Scott's hardass attitude sometimes seems to be more important than the team success...

Do we really want Dion to turn into another Lebron? We don't know the situation with Dion so lets not jump to conclusions

Am I the only person that thinks Byron has the team play competitively for 3 quarters and then, yes deliberately, tanks the 4th? I think what he's doing might hurt the fans (it would've been awesome to beat the Thunder), but he's giving everyone ample playing time, the ability to develop, while still allowing the Cavaliers to have a reasonable shot at a high draft pick.

This is an assumption, but the pattern seems to fit. I don't think Scott cares that we lost, in fact, I'd guess he'd have preferred it this way. I could be wrong, but we didn't look bad against the Thunder, and no one got embarrassed... come end of the season, we'll be glad we lost games like this. It's definitely an acceptable loss, in a game against last year's second best team.

This is what happens when an organization communicates (either tacitly or explicitly) that winning doesn't matter for the foreseeable future and openly fawns over the coach leading the tank.

Its like this franchise feels like they absolutely must act submissive to SOMEONE--whether it's a player (LeBron) or a coach (Scott's living the life of Riley).

Dion is one of the most exciting rookies playing in the entire fucking league right now, and we obviously have a second legitimate playmaker to go along with Kyrie--but it's a-ok in Cavs land to punish the dogshit out of him for something that other coaches more than likely address the next practice.

No wonder why Scott's act has worn so thin at his previous two stops.

this is our coach:

BScott wasn't happy with Waiters tonight, but he's not saying why.

Asked Byron why no Waiters in the fourth quarter, if it was a Boobie issue or a Dion issue. "A little of both," he said, but wouldn't elaborate.

Waiters said he was surprised he didn't play in fourth quarter and said Byron didn't give him an explanation.

I asked if he thought he was playing OK.

"I was 3 for 6," he said.

I asked him if he thought Byron had a problem with anything he did defensively.

"No," he said. "I don't know. I can't explain it." 3 minutes ago

Losing games because the team sucks is acceptable. Losing teams because the coach is tanking the 4th quarter on purpose... well that solves nothing and gets the coach fired. Not sure what you're getting at here.

Dion probably said 1,2,3 championship, in the huddle. And Byron was like, oh, fuck no Dion! Get your ass at the end of the bench.

Are you serious?

Scott has more job security right now than probably any other coach in the entire NBA. The organization has basically admitted that we're tanking--which is why Scott can pull his R. Lee Ermey shit with Waiters and whomever else that he feels isn't bowing down.

They have? When? If they have openly admitted that they are up for tanking, then it's truly worse than I thought. Chris Grant needs to go then too if that's the case.
