Game 77 | Spurs @ Cavs | April 5, 2009 | 1:00 PM (ET)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wally had his problems today, but the entire bench couldn't score today (except for Joe). Fortunately, they played hard on defense and contested shots. Mike Brown had to love how they worked hard through the end of the game, even if they couldn't get a defensive rebound in the last sequence.

Anything is possible with this team. Especially when Lebron's head is out of his a**.

Do you think J.J. could have performed as well as Darnell did? Darnell played a solid all-around game in his first start. I am just comfortable knowing that we have someone on our bench who is young, hustles, and is not intimidated of playing big minutes against an elite team. I know J.J. has a lot more development this summer, but it's that championship (NCAA) experience that Darnell has that benefits this team as we head into the playoffs.

Not trying to dog on J.J., but Darnell is giving so much more than I could have dreamed.

Delonte played aggressively today. It makes a world of difference...he only passed up on a couple open jumpers to pass it to a man who wasn't really open (the extra pass that shouldn't happen, you know what i am talking about, he has been doing it all the time in the last month). Lebron set the tone early, Mo carried it and then Delonte finished. Very impressive win.

Our defense shut down Ginobili. Parker of course gave us problems as usual but you know every fast point guard can beat us when Z is our center.

Delonte is key, if he can start hitting the 3 at around 40% again the Cavs will be much harder to beat.

Just got back from the game, here's a few thoughts

  • Great game by the Cavs. I know it's fustrating watching the bench (exception: Joe Smith) be completely useless on offense, but if you would have told me that AV was out and the Cavs win by 20 over SA, I'd take that any day of the week.

  • Not sure what was up with Duncan, but he was a complete non-factor. Looked slow, is it possible he is injured?

  • Nice to see that some things never change ... Drew Gooden called for a defensive 3 seconds.... brought back memories .... good times :D

  • I thought the interior defense was solid and the Cavs did a great job of boxing out on rebounds. Also, liked it when James gaurded Parker, he shut Parker down.

  • Looks like West played more minutes than ussual. Plus, his shot is returning. Perfect timing.

  • Nice to see the Cavs take the season series from SA.

I can't wait till Wednesday ... I hope we have a similar effort

The guy deserves a lot of credit for stepping up like this with Ben out and more recently tonight with Andy gone as well. Just good solid basketball on the defensive end. J.J. will have his time but Darnell is finding his place on this team and seems to be the main beneficiary of playing alongside a great defender like Ben Wallace.

Even when JJ was drafted, Ferry gave that infamous "18 month" timetable for him to be a factor. I think they always figured he was a project, and is still a work-in-progress.

But I don't think they figured Darnell would give them this much. So it's not so much that JJ is underachieving as it is DJ is overachieving.

I really liked to see Delonte start hitting some shots. I liked how Lebron came out and set the tone for the rest of the team and game.

Way to go Cavs

Great bounce back win. When Lebron sets the tone with aggressive play, the whole team follows his lead.

My only concern is the complete lack of production from Wally/Gibson/Pavs - these guys have to step it up! We need at least 1 perimeter guy off the bench giving us 8-10pts, 1 of these 3 should be able to give us something on any given night.

If they all keep stinking up the gym, TK needs to be given a serious look before the playoffs.
