Game Thread 2019-20 Season Game #29 | Cleveland Cavaliers vs Memphis Grizzles | Dec 20th, 2019

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nice turn around for Sexton in the 4th quarter. It was a poor shooting night for him but he showed his worth at the end of the game. They put the ball I his hands and let him run the offense to close the game. He made good decisions and played hard on defense.

GG.

Clarkson was the spark plug yet again. He was shooting lights out. He was good.

Sexton played off. He finished strong.

Garland locked Ja up. Got some good rebounds. Shot OK. Made key free throws.

Love made clutch shots in the 4th.

TT with 15 rebounds. He played hard.

KPJ had some boneheaded plays at the wrong times. Got into it a little with Allen. He was OK.

Henson killed it with the blocks. Had the hoop sealed.

Garland, KPJ, Clarkson, Nance and Henson is my
Favorite lineup. They play together. Play hard and with energy.

Good win. They knocked off all the mistakes and looked like an actual team down the stretch and came out with the win. It was interesting that we had Collin initiating the offense in the final minute, showed a lot of faith in him to do that. I don't know what it means.

I think they know that Sexton can be at least a decent part of closing out games. As much as he lacks vision, he has a feel for how he is playing and who is hot. He plays with energy and wants to shine. It's that ultra competitiveness and someone that doesn't let pressure get to him. We might end up seeing that he actually thrives on pressure in the future. All these things make him someone you don't mind as your closer.

I also understand why they don't put Garland in the same situation. He just doesn't seem to have the personality or go to moves to close out games yet.

I would like us to bring back Henson next season

Such a strange win. Sexton couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, but Clarkson on fire and Delly feeding him. Love and TT playing hard. Ok, I guess I’ll take it.

Absolutely. Seven blocks plus a couple of strips that led to turnovers and he altered some other shots. Just a tremendous defensive performance.

That was an important comeback win trailing by 12 in the 4th and winning by 7 - a 19-point turnaround. It showed the Cavs they can do it if they just keep plugging away. Just because they get behind by double digits in the 4th doesn't mean it's over.

The Cavs won the battle of the boards 60-46, including 16 offensive rebounds. They did a nice job defensively, holding the Grizzlies to 107 points on 43% shooting and 14-for-41 on 3's. The Cavs had only 14 turnovers, a big improvement over two nights ago when they had 25.

Jordan Clarkson pretty much won the game for the Cavs with 33 points and 6 rebounds. The Cavs were +21 when he was in the game. The next highest Cavalier was +6. When JC was in the game the Cavs rolled. He was on fire from the minute he checked in.

Delly dished out 8 assists in his 16 minutes. Everybody contributed to this win. If anybody didn't play that well it was Collin Sexton who had an off night shooting, making only 2 of 12 shots. But he made some big foul shots at the end to secure the win.

So the Cavs have their second winning streak of the season. It was great watching the bench celebrating during the final minute timeouts. Kevin Love was like a little kid jumping around hugging and chest bumping teammates. The Cavs players were almost giddy.

Now let's beat Atlanta Monday to set a new season high for consecutive wins with three. Woo-hoo!

Beilein is a good coach. What he's doing with Henson, giving him confidence, is the proof.

People need to lay-off just because he doesn't play their favorite player every minute of the game. He's finding weird line-ups that work. He's not stubborn with the rotations. He's good.

Yeah he is still feeling things out. Nice to see he isn't married to anything yet.

He left Garland out of closing games the past few and then leaves him in to reward him for his job on Morant.

Sexton really sucked, but man he always learns over the course of the game. Kyrie used to do that and it would really pay off over a playoff series. People forget how bad his first couple were against GS in 2016. I think Sexton is really good at spotting weaknesses.

Team does not look like they hate each other. The ball is moving, guys are really looking like they are buying in. Great resiliency. Winning really can change a lot of bad feelings

Some nice play all around from the team to close this out.

Brandon Knight looked miserable there though when they cut to the bench after that Sexton clutch rebound
Brandon knight needs to be moved. There has to be a contender that could use a backup pg due to injury. Honestly dont care if we just get back a starbucks gift card. Just move him

ESPN sure is making a big deal about a missed dunk which was really an uncalled charge.

Gotta extend Clarkson
Yeah, he's playing really well, but Kevin Porter, Jr is probably the future for the 2-guard spot. The Cavs need to get bigger up front and I'm hoping they can swap out Thompson and Clarkson for some combination of draft picks and cap space to land a big man who can protect the rim and neutralize the Brook Lopezes and Blake Griffins of the world.

"Everybody is longer than us, everybody is taller than us. It’s just difficult for our guys to see who is open, ball-handling and everything." - Beilein

However.....

"I want to be here in Cleveland. I like what they’ve got going on here in terms of a new coach. This is a lovely place. I love the arena and the culture that we are creating. Hopefully I will be in a Cleveland jersey for a long time." - Jordan Clarkson, 10/22/19
