Game Thread 2020-21 Season| Game #11 | Memphis @ Cleveland | January 11, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is Sexland ready to return yet???? Sick of watching Okoro and shit
Okoro has been ok on offense and excellent on defense? I definitely miss Declan’s but the rookie has not been the problem

Starters played a ton of minutes again and it showed down the stretch. Tomorrow could be a rough one.

Yogi did all right. He’s smarter than the average big, especially our bigs.

Drummond as our #1 option is a disaster. I know it’s because so many players are out but watching him put the ball on the floor and try to drive to the hoop is just awful. If he’s fouled he’ll just miss his FTs.

Cedi’s ceiling is eighth in the rotation.

We just have too many key players out to win most games.

Lucky for the Cavs, most Cavs fans are watching the national championship game so didnt see this game..

We need a pg bad and scoring..Yogi wasnt the answer for this game.

Didn't see the whole game but what I saw was painful. Finding baskets is like pulling teeth. Can't wait for Garland and Sexton to get back. It was nice to see Okoro take 11 shots - he's starting to get more confident in his offensive game. That throw down on the fast break was awesome; it reminded me of KPJ last year.

The Cavs had 17 turnovers. They're not good enough offensively to have that many and score 100 or even close. The Cavs are last in the NBA in free throw percentage and that doesn't look to change anytime soon.

The Grizzlies backup point guard, Tyus Jones, who we originally drafted with the 24th pick five years ago, had a great game filling in for Morant with a line of 13/5/7 and 3 steals. They ran the center pick-and-roll all night with excellent results. Chasing the ball handler around the pick doesn't work. If your big drops off to prevent the lob the dribbler just shoots a short floater or bank shot. If our big steps up to prevent the floater then it's a lob to the rim for an easy dunk. One guy, even a big, can't guard two players at the same time.

McGee takes some extremely ugly shots. The running hook from the free throw line was my favorite. You have to go back 60-70 years to see a shot like that in the NBA. I think I saw an old film of George Mikan throwing up 15' hook shots off one foot. McGee airmailed another 3-pointer, too. Like I said - painful to watch. But I love the effort. Tonight he had 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 blocked shots in 16 minutes. He comes in and throws his body around recklessly and plays with extreme emotion. He loves to take low percentage shots, though.

Nance is 10-for-13 on 3-pointers over his last three games. Pretty impressive and he's up to 40.5% for the season. I feel that with a depleted roster Nance and Okoro are looking to shoot more and it's helping their offensive games. When the real scorers get back Nance and Okoro will be better offensively than they were before the injuries. So it's not a total loss.

Stevens was 2-for-2 from the field and a +6 in 10 minutes, best on the team. He's earned a few minutes every night for now.

Thanks for the discussion guys. It lets me know what's going on. When sexland doesn't play i can't bring myself to watch this year. Just painful basketball. Even Sexton without Garland is pretty bad honestly.

Good Lord!!!! People on here blame everything that’s wrong with this team on Drummond! Last time I checked there are four other players on the floor with him!
The plain truth is this team is just not that talented! We have 2 (maybe three) good players but no great ones! Drummond is not the issue on this team. It’s a collective issue!

Drummond DOES dribble too much. And he's got Casspi-esque dick fingers.

shouldn't be a problem if drummond doesn't dribble down the court, or take as many shots as he did, or miss that amount of free throws.

Ah yes, I was trying to remember the Cavalier of whom Drummond reminded me, when it came to his work under the hoop. Good ol' Captain Assfingers himself, Omri Asspi.

That being said. Get well soon, SexLand.
I really like Dotson and I think he plays as well as you can expect in the "Delly" role w/o Delly available.

But everything going through the bigs, the spacing issues, more Cedi usage out of necessity. If not for the defense and the Cavs' way of getting back into the game, this team would be a hard one to watch, much like the immediate crash of losing LeBron on the team.

I wish there were room for Tyus Jones on the Cavs when he was drafted. I have to think that was during the LeBron years and you know how that goes.

The Cavs were missing by my count four of their top seven players last night. They had Drummond, Nance, and Okoro but were missing Sexton, Garland, Porter, and Love. I don't know how many NBA teams can win missing four of the top seven.

We just have to take our lumps and get quality developmental minutes for Okoro until the team is whole. By next week we should have Garland and Sexton back and this team has shown they can compete with anybody with that lineup.
