Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Talk about testing a team's character....Mobley says he'll play the 5. Gonna be hell for him, but he knows he's gotta do it. This team has suffered 3 years worth of adversity in one season. I'm content to let them play their guts out and let the chips fall.

MUCH more urgency for LeVert to get back out there. Rondo...I don't worry about. Both times he had to play extended minutes, he's come up lame (hammy and toe). Goodwin has to be next man up. My main concern is Darius. More grimaces than smiles out there. He's gotta be hurting.

Let Mobley flash high, and use Lauri and Okoro as back cutters. Mobley's a good passer. Maybe he can beat 5's off the dribble. If they lay off him, let him fire away. Every game is a learning experience. In a year's time, these guys will KNOW what big games are about.

As for a backup 5...Try to find an enforcer. A punishing physical brute. Let him use his 6 fouls. We could use guys like the Spurs paired with Duncan.

These injuries just keep coming!!!! JA is a huge loss!!! Mobley is going to have to step up his play big time with Allen out!
When is LaVert due back? BTW I am loving Goodwin’s play here recently. I hope when LaVert comes back JJB doesn’t forget him.
Was that Windler on the bench last night?

The Cavs lucked out tonight as VanVleet, Flynn, and Anunoby were all out. However, we lost Allen early and had to struggle to win. Mobley stepped up after a couple of nearly invisible games with 20 pts, 17 boards, and 4 assists. Markkanen had 20 pts and 12 rebounds while Love and Cedi were both +19 off the bench.

The Cavs turned it over 17 times to only 7 for Toronto, but got lucky again in that the Raptors could not make their 3-pointers (25%) and also missed 10 free throws. The Raptors were 2-for-18 on 3's after three quarters but went 4-for-6 in the 4th to make it close. Chris Boucher has the oddest looking stroke but he hit three 3's from the same corner.

The Cavs gave up a ridiculous 7 offensive rebounds in the first quarter but pulled it together and gave up only 7 more the rest of the game. Mobley had a lot to do with that. But committing 17 turnovers and allowing 14 offensive rebounds they were fortunate to win, especially with Allen only playing 10 minutes. He was on his way to a big game with 6 points and 2 blocks in those 10 minutes.

The Cavs gave up an 11-0 run early in the 3rd quarter but turned it around and go the lead back to 11 to start the 4th. The bench and Mobley did a nice job to maintain the lead while the starters rested.

Cedi had two 3's that hit the rim, the glass, the rim, and went in. He also had a layup where he lost the ball and it hit a Raptor on his arm and bounced into the basket. Just a lucky night for the Cavs, except for the Allen injury. Hopefully he won't be out long.

The Raptors bench scored only 8 points in 56 minutes while the Cavs' bench scored 37.

After scoring 22 points two nights ago Okoro was back to his normal self with 2 points in 22 minutes, going 1-for-7 from the field. The Cavs were -14 in those 22 minutes.

Very big win as they now have the tiebreaker over Toronto and are 3 games ahead of them as the Cavs try to stay in the top six. But it came at a huge cost as Allen is out indefinitely with a fractured finger, maybe for the season.
I find it really hard to believe a fractured finger would knock him out more than 6 weeks. End of April at the worst.

At best, he gets a splint, tapes his fingers together, and plays the next game.

At least that's what a bunch of us would do in his situation. :chuckle:

Seriously, there's a range of possible things defined as fractures. Off the top of my head there's hairline, partial, non-displaced, displaced, and on down the list. He acted like he didn't think much of it in the immediate aftermath. Adrenaline perhaps.

Yes. I found out today that 'fracture' in medical terminology, applies to any broken bone with any displacement, or none. I just use it to mean no displacement. I use 'broken' to mean some displacement. I use 'shattered' to mean multiple pieces (>=3). But my usage and common usage isn't medical terminology.

Like you, I noted there was no reaction by Jarrett concerning his hand, indicating it was a non-displaced fracture.

I also have a distinct memory of an NBA player and an NFL player playing with their finger in a splint and taped to another finger.

How the fuck did they reverse that call? It was a clear hook. I mean, I guess if Mobley's contact came first but they didn't call a foul. Then Wade was probably out of position but he gets a foul for getting hit in the face. Rough shit, and it feels like we don't get respect the refs every night.
I watched the game tonight and came to this thread to see if there was any explanation of why it was reversed. It was absolutely and 100% a hook. Why the hell was it reversed?

Actually it wasn’t a complete hook and it didn’t give him an advantage to getting to the rim

It wasnt a complete hook?

and didnt give him an advantage? is that how it is written in the rule book? Because he very clearly used his elbow to get around the defender

No it wasn’t! When I watched the replay I immediately knew it was going to get over turned.

I fractured a ring finger with an end on impact, which split the bone of the finger tip in half to the first joint. Took me three years to get my grip back to normal.. I don't think his is that bad, but fingers ain't no joke..

I fractured my pointer finger once and also tore a ligament in the same finger. Took about 4 weeks to heal until I was back on the court. I think if it was just a hairline fracture, it would have been a shorter recovery, and with it being my off-hand, the only annoying aspect was when the area was hit. However, I also had a displaced fracture on my fourth metatarsal and that required surgery to put metal in my hand and I was out of basketball activities for about 4 months. A little longer until I actually felt comfortable even being on the court.

I hope cavs run more spain pnr with dg as the ballhandler, allen the first screener and markannen as the 2nd screener. It would open alot of options for cavs offense.
We use VERY few picks. It's pretty weird, actually. It's almost just the high ball screen, and that's it.

More off-ball screening actions would help guys like Love and Lauri get open for perimeter looks and force the defense to react.
