Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #64 | Raptors @ Cavs | March 6, 2022 | 7:30 p.m. ESPN

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs highlights. First time I saw the game. Mobley looked really active.

Barnes was key to the Toronto's rally in the 4th. He has an odd offensive game, shooting short twos at a high percentage.

The Cavs lucked out tonight as VanVleet, Flynn, and Anunoby were all out. However, we lost Allen early and had to struggle to win. Mobley stepped up after a couple of nearly invisible games with 20 pts, 17 boards, and 4 assists. Markkanen had 20 pts and 12 rebounds while Love and Cedi were both +19 off the bench.

The Cavs turned it over 17 times to only 7 for Toronto, but got lucky again in that the Raptors could not make their 3-pointers (25%) and also missed 10 free throws. The Raptors were 2-for-18 on 3's after three quarters but went 4-for-6 in the 4th to make it close. Chris Boucher has the oddest looking stroke but he hit three 3's from the same corner.

The Cavs gave up a ridiculous 7 offensive rebounds in the first quarter but pulled it together and gave up only 7 more the rest of the game. Mobley had a lot to do with that. But committing 17 turnovers and allowing 14 offensive rebounds they were fortunate to win, especially with Allen only playing 10 minutes. He was on his way to a big game with 6 points and 2 blocks in those 10 minutes.

The Cavs gave up an 11-0 run early in the 3rd quarter but turned it around and go the lead back to 11 to start the 4th. The bench and Mobley did a nice job to maintain the lead while the starters rested.

Cedi had two 3's that hit the rim, the glass, the rim, and went in. He also had a layup where he lost the ball and it hit a Raptor on his arm and bounced into the basket. Just a lucky night for the Cavs, except for the Allen injury. Hopefully he won't be out long.

The Raptors bench scored only 8 points in 56 minutes while the Cavs' bench scored 37.

After scoring 22 points two nights ago Okoro was back to his normal self with 2 points in 22 minutes, going 1-for-7 from the field. The Cavs were -14 in those 22 minutes.

Very big win as they now have the tiebreaker over Toronto and are 3 games ahead of them as the Cavs try to stay in the top six. But it came at a huge cost as Allen is out indefinitely with a fractured finger, maybe for the season.

From the internet doctors on this board, I've heard Allen will be out 2-6 weeks. My take is that he'll be back for the next game. A contusion is just a bruise.
He also fractured his finger and has been ruled out indefinitely...

No way a broken finger should keep JA our for the season unless there was some jagged bone sticking out.

Why a guaranteed playoff series?
He means if we get a 6th seed we avoid the play ins and are in an actual playoff series, if we end up in a play in it's likely one and done against the Nets.

The misfortune this team has with injuries this season...

My thought is that the main reason the Cavs pulled this one out is that the Raptors are complete ass from 3 in the lineups they had available. I still saw a lot of the defensive problems that plague the Cavs against teams that are more crafty.

There was a pulse on offense, with the ball movement. Mobley had one decision he made that was very, very good, lead to a much needed 3 from the corner.

The win was vital.
Losing JA really dims my hopes for the rest of the season, hopefully he isn't gone for the rest of it.
Rondo and LeVert can't get back in the game soon enough.

Obviously, the win is tempered by the news of the latest in a seemingly continuous stream of injuries,

But I saw a couple posts lamenting that this win was a struggle, presumably in reference to feeling like the Raptors should have been an easier win due to them missing FVV, OG Anuboy, and Malachi Flynn

I don’t get that at all. The Cavs were up double digits at half time.

They then played the second half without Jarett Allen, Caris LeVert, Rajon Rondo, and of course Collin Sexton.

Given the total sum of things, I don’t get complaints that this WIN was a struggle. I mean, it was a bit of the a struggle, I just don’t see how people would have expected it not to be given the circumstances.

Sucks that Allen will miss time. Big growth opportunity for Mobley to step up and fill that void, be more aggressive and have a presumably higher usage with more post play.

It was Love and Wade who were +19. Cedi was +2.

In the play in games, #7 plays #8 and the winner is in. #9 plays #10 and the loser is out. Then there is one more game. The loser of #7 and #8 plays the winner of #9 and #10. Winner of that game is in and loser is out. So #7 and #8 are guaranteed 2 chances to make the playoffs.

Cavs have a 5.5 game lead on 8, 9, and 10 as of this morning.

These injuries just keep coming!!!! JA is a huge loss!!! Mobley is going to have to step up his play big time with Allen out!
When is LaVert due back? BTW I am loving Goodwin’s play here recently. I hope when LaVert comes back JJB doesn’t forget him.
Was that Windler on the bench last night?
