I would feel more confident if we had Allen for this one. The Raptors' starting front line is relatively small; Barnes and Anunoby are 6'7" and Siakam is 6'8". If we had Allen, Mobley, and Markkanen I think we could get a lot of points and draw fouls simply by posting up. We still might have some success in the low post with Mobley and Marky, but if we had all three it would make it pretty tough on the Raptors.
The Cavs will obviously be setting screens on the 6'1" VanVleet all night in an effort to get him switched onto a big rolling to the rim. It will be up to Garland to make the right decisions. Other Raptor defenders will be dropping down to give VanVleet help which will leave Okoro and Stevens open for corner 3's or for baseline cuts.
Okoro has hit 18 of his last 38 attempts from deep, or 47.4%. He's getting into Kyle Korver territory!
The Raptors rank 23rd in defending 2-point shots so the Cavs should look to getting the ball to the rim, hopefully on lobs. The Cavs need to avoid dribbling in traffic against the team that is 2nd in the NBA in steals. The Cavs can't be careless or predictable with their passes. Turnovers that lead to fast break layups and dunks are the Cavs' biggest enemy tonight, along with giving up a lot of offensive rebounds.
The Raptors had 13 steals against the Cavs on March 6 and 14 offensive rebounds, but only scored 96 points due to 39.4% shooting and 25% on 3's. That was the game Allen got hurt after 10 minutes but the Cavs still throttled the Raptor offense, which was playing without VanVleet and Anunoby. If the Cavs can play the same stifling defense tonight while reducing the turnovers and offensive rebounds a bit, they have a good shot.
The Raptors are only 22nd in defensive rebounding and the Cavs got 15 last game, including 7 by Evan Mobley. If the Cavs can get 15 more tonight that will definitely help their cause.
