If you’re that guy getting that upset with this team… whew.

This season is about progress, not perfection.. Its an incredibly young team, there’s going to be ups and downs.. That is how you get two bad losses followed by three great wins followed by two more losses.. Cavs have to learn how to win — it’s a work in progress right now…

Wins help, but so does manageable expectations… The same people trying to find when the Cavs would get their first win after an 0-2 start are the same people hammering the Cavs for not winning the Suns and Lakers games..

If you told anyone the Cavs would go 2-2 on the west coast swing, they’d take that every time.. They 100% were in the Lakers game and were in the Suns game early and showed they can hang — it’s just a matter of sustaining..

The fact people get so caught up within the flow of the game and especially with JBB is a bit confusing to me.. JBB isn’t going to be the coach to see this thing through… As long as he has the locker room and isn’t holding a player back, I’m not going to get too upset…

Its a long season and a long road ahead, buckle up…
Good perspective! We already have 2 more wins on this west coast trip than I expected, as the Cavs have been a pleasant surprise.

As much as we may not want to admit it, this season is partly about re-establishing the trade value of Love & Osman. The only way to do that is by actually playing them. In Osman’s case, we have no one else at SF, so it’s easy for him to get some run.

We also need to see if the SexLand backcourt will work (I still have my doubts) and maintain their trade value, while also incorporating the veteran, Rubio.

I find it weird how some people are OK with these kinds of games, implying that nothing really matters since this season is supposedly only about various ulterior goals or whatnot. I think that's blatant self-deception. If you lose like this, it doesn't help anyone or anything. This stuff is like a cancer that starts spreading if you're not careful.

I'll write some more in the 21/22 season thread since this is not just about the Suns game.

4 games in 6 nights. This is brutal. But JBB should have known better in managing the minutes especially in that horrible end to the 2nd quarter where it looked like the regulars were gassed.

Playing this many road games is ridiculous.

We've played at home what twice in 7 games?

And it will be 3 times in our first 10 games?

Shit is ridiculous.
how the hell do we get 4 games in days. West Coast, then Phoenix then Charlotte ??
we are fortunate to have 3 wins

Like I said in the preview, this was a scheduled loss. The Cavs had a great first quarter, winning 31-24, then ran out of gas. At one point the Suns hit 21-of-30 shots while the Cavs made 5-of-23.

Allen had 4 points, Mobley 2. These guys were exhausted from heavy minutes and a lot of banging inside while playing their 3rd game in four days. The Cavs starting front line combined for 17 points despite a huge height advantage with the Suns starting two 6'6" forwards.

Garland and Sexton combined for 12 turnovers as the Suns constantly poked the ball away or stripped them in the paint. Rubio was 3-for-15. The fatigue really showed after the first quarter. Sexton only got 19 minutes; he may be banged up.

The Cavs continue to get educated by future HOF'ers. Friday night it was LeBron and Carmelo, last night it was Chris Paul. At age 36 he played 37 minutes with 16 points, 10 assists, and 4 steals while committing only two turnovers. He was far and away the best guard on the floor.

Devin Booker put on a demonstration of what the Cavs need to contend - a 6'5" to 6-8" wing who can get on a roll and score from deep and still has the size to finish at the rim. The Cavs have players who can penetrate but aren't tall enough to finish consistently. They have tall players who don't have the quickness and ball skills to penetrate (Mobley, Allen, Love, Markkanen). They don't have any wings who can hit 3's and also drive and elevate for layups. They have no one who can score on all three levels and take over a game when shots aren't falling.

Booker had 27 points and 9 assists.

This wasn't a bad loss, losing by 9 points to a team that went to the Western Finals last year, especially considering the Suns have only played one game since last Saturday.

Cedi Osman, who only played 4 minutes in the last two games, had fresh legs and was 6-for-12 on 3's. Lauri was 2-for-4. Everybody else was 6-for-28. Tired legs.

The Suns ran the high 1-5 pick and roll to death and the Cavs had no answer. It was Paul and Aybar over and over. The Cavs strategy was to have their big sag back to prevent the lob/dunk while Garland, Sexton, or Rubio trailed Paul around the screen and followed him down the lane. That's not going to work against a guy with over 10,000 assists.

Still, holding the Suns to 101 points on the road was a solid defensive effort. They forced Paul and Booker to play 37 and 35 minutes. The Cavs just couldn't get their shots to fall and the Suns did a good job of packing the paint and stripping the ball while preventing lobs to Allen and Mobley.

The Cavs only shot 39.6% and 31.8%. Tired legs.

JBB gave Cedi a shot as the small forward off the bench after Stevens went 1-for-7 last night. Cedi responded with 20 points. Nobody else had more than 11.

Dean Wade was matched up against Booker in the 4th on one possession and Booker tried to go by him twice but was cut off. Then he pump faked and that didn't work. He was forced to pass and got a 24-second violation. Great one-on-one defense by Wade against one of the best offensive wings in the league. I've seen him do that last year as well. He plays excellent fundamental defense, moving his feet very well for a 6''9" power forward.

I'm thinking Wade deserves more minutes. Love is shooting 35.5% from the field and 20.8% on 3's after seven games. He doesn't give you much on defense, so if his shots aren't falling he's not much of an asset. I wonder how long JBB will stick with Love if his shooting doesn't improve.

Nice to see Windler get 16 minutes. He's active and had 8 points and 4 rebounds, including two offensive, but he needs to hit those open 3's.

The Suns had a 19-2 run similar to other runs the Cavs gave up in their first two losses. This is where having a player like Booker or Paul George is so valuable - a guy like that can get you a couple of buckets and break the momentum. When the Cavs get into these lulls they have no one who can pull them out of it - they just take turns missing open shots and committing turnovers.

Unfortunately, I don't think anybody like that is available either through trade or in the draft unless a spate of key injuries puts the Cavs back in the lottery and they get really lucky.

Wasn’t aware Phoenix had a senator playing for them. That’s crazy!

All kidding aside, this team has had an absolute gauntlet the first couple weeks of the season. Frankly it’s impressive that they’re sitting at 3-4 right now, and you could easily make the argument for 4-3, had they been able to close out the Lakers.

Still, this is a young team learning how to win. My bet is that later on this season and certainly next season, they’re going to start to win more games like Friday and Saturday than they lose.

Yeah, the Cavs failed to scored a point in the final 4:46 of the 2nd quarter and then were blown out in the 3rd. At one point they were outscored 50-12.

In hindsight JBB should have anticipated the starters running out of gas and moved more quickly. The Cavs were down 24 points and as soon as he put some fresh bodies in (Cedi, Windler, Wade) the Cavs went on an 11-0 run and eventually cut the lead to 10 points.

After building a 42-28 lead, the Cavs scored 4 points in the last 8:50 of the second quarter. Then the Cavs were outscored by 20 in the first 8 minutes of the 3rd quarter. That was the 50-12 run.

The Cavs outscored the Suns 38-23 the rest of the way with fresh bodies on the floor.

Always gotta dislike the players that lost bad for 5 years straight then inherit a couple things their way and then they wanna express themselves in non humble ways.
You are really gonna have some issues with the Cavs in a season or two....

Not sure any of our guys are that douchey tho. Especially the Mob/Land/Okoro/Sex quartet that seem to have really good heads on their shoulders. Dont think any of them will be seen with a Kardashian soon
