Hard for me to get excited about games where either Garland or Mobley are out.

I feel like Nic Claxton usually gives it to us, but he’ll be directly matched up against Mobley this time. Hopefully Mobley can get him in foul trouble.

Jeeeeeesus!!! We haven’t played a game and already players are missing games?? What do these guys do in the off season to take care of their bodies????
 
Still like the Cavs tonight even if DG doesn't go. Feel like Evan is gonna have a big one for some reason. Let's see if this talk about playing more up-tempo was true . . .
 
First opening day game I wont be able to watch in quite some time

Huge bummer we are starting the season with two starters injured. Sounds like Allen will be fine in a week or so. This is my first time hearing of a hamstring issue for Garland. No idea what is going on with that.

It's partly the nature of the training camp JBB employs which seems to elevate the potential for random basketball injuries. Higher intensity than most camps in the league. I believe Strus recently made a comment about this in comparison to Miami.

Last year, Evan was hurt during camp with an ankle injury.

The flip side to this, Cavs have been starting off the season well.

Would like to see things dial back a little next year.
 
I'm excited for a new season, no matter who is playing.

Assuming DG plays and Allen and Wade are out... who is your 5th starter today?

With the Nets basically playing 4 wings, I assume we'd go small instead of Damian Jones. I'd go with Okoro personally and match him up on Mikal Bridges. I don't like LeVert as a starter in this case, as his offensive abilities would be completely wasted as the 5th option.

Everything we've heard reported points to Jones starting.

I'm hopeful that doesn't mean he plays Allen's full minute total. I don't expect to see Jones on the floor to close the game, but I could be wrong. I expect him to play to start both halves and then be limited in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

Think we'll see a closing 5 with either Strus or Niang at the 4 alongside Garland/Mitchell/LeVert/Mobley.
