I'm still relatively new compared to many posters here, but the real eye opener for me as far as actual basketball knowledge on this board were the comments immediately following the Mitchell deal, and those comments being walked back about two weeks into the season. We're fans, people are paid to know more about this than us . . .
I generally agree, sometimes GM's make mistakes or arent good though, so every move can be scrutinized, its what we do as fans.
But the Mitchell trade I am 100% still on board.
Mitchell is a superstar, probably a 9.5. Lauri is the best player we traded, a solid 7, very good player. In the world of getting superstars., the pieces wont add up. You always have to pay a ton to get a super star....and a 26 year old one just entering his prime? We got away cheap for Mitchell. The fact we didnt have to trade Allen, Garland or Mobley was the key to the deal.....still.
Edit: my point with the numbers is if we assign 1-10 numbers for the draft picks and players, probably adds up to 20 or even more. Crazy for a 9.5 out of 10 player right? Not really have to realize the expense, Mitchell is a borderline top 10 player under 28....there or maybe 5 or 6 of those in the entire NBA...they are very, very expensive.
