Gerald Wallace on the block?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would fully support a trade for Wallace, however my biggest reservation is that it's so early in the season and there could be many more options later on.

Yeah but you never know. The Nets aren't doing so bad and might not want to give up Carter. Hawks are 4-0 and JJ will not be on the block. Even though Salmons, Miller, Webster are good options, I'd take G-Wall over them.

Right now the Warriors and Knicks don't want G-Wall, so a 3 way trade involving G-Wall/Harrington/Curry wouldn't work. Knicks really want Harrington though and Bobcats want Curry. But I'm sure Knicks wouldn't mind Wally's 14 mil expiring instead of Al.

Bobcats get Curry, a pick from the Cavs (or Knicks)
Cavs get G-Wall
Knicks get Wally

If the Knicks would rather take Harrington, maybe the Warriors would take Wally. But a straight up Wally/Al/Curry/G-Wall wouldn't work for the Warriors cap. I can't figure out a deal on trade machine for that. But I hope Ferry's trying to get involved in talks.

Actually a Wally/G-Wall/Curry trade fails too. Anyone find a deal that would work?

Yea i read a deal like this on a hoopsworld.com chat. A wally/ gforce/ curry deal fails but we could just add money to the deal and that would make it work.
This deal makes so much sense because the knicks would love to get rid of Curry's contract and a plus is adding salary to us(so it gives them a little shot at lebron). We would barely give up anything in this deal except a 1st round pick(maybe) and Charlotte gets a big that imo do pretty nice with Okafor and Larry Brown.

G Force wouldnt be the man to push us over the top and im not even sure he would be a good fit. It would probably just make us better by the fact Wallys off the team. Plus I dont really want to sacrifice our 10' free agency with somone who isnt gonna guarantee us a ship.

I can't believe this thread goes on for more than 5 pages just because of some crummy rumor. I would understand if this was a McDyess thread but man...

OK fans carry on.... :D

Yeah this trade really works for all sides. Charlotte to me looks soft on the inside, and even though Curry is not a great defender he is a huge body that takes up space and doesn't allow teams to drive, or get easy shots inside. Also the offense could be made way easier for Okafor, I mean look at Bosh and the way he is playing with JO. Now Okafor is not Bosh, but he is still a good big and Curry is not JO, but he is still a big body who IMO has a better offensive game then JO (now except he's not as good a shooter).

For us this is a no brainer we get a mini Bron and things get way easier for Mo and Z. Not to mention LBJ would have easier lanes to the hoop. This team would be a pick your poison with Wallace because you have to play single coverage or the ball is in the net and everyone knows you cannot single cover LeBron. Thing is this does add money to 2010 but also it leaves us about 14 million even after LeBron is resigned.

NY gets an expiring which i'm sure makes them want to cry a little and this deal also gives us more salary to take on which i'm sure would help their whole LBJ 2010 thing. They also want to get rid of Curry and Wally would fit in more with what they are doing now. Run and Gun is actually pretty good for Wally IMO with his shooting ability just stand at the 3line and wait for the ball.

If there contract goes past 2 years and there not a clear cut super star then the answer is NO!

We are not going to get Bosh or any other max player in 2010 either way so it doesn't sacrifice anything. The best we are going to get is a pair of guys signed to 10-13 million dollar deals but that leaves our bench weak. Also 2010 all depends on Andy being resigned as well do you think we are going to let him go? GWallace is a discount for what he would bring to our team, and it would still allow us (if we didn't sign AV) to sign another 10 million dollar guy and LeBron.

We are going to wish 2010 free agency never came unless we start to get players that can help us win a 'ship before then.

I understand every body is worried about 2010 free agency but the chances the biggest free agents leave there teams is very slim. Id rather get players now and try to win a 'ship instead of piling up cap space that we may not even use. We already know we can offer Lebron more money than any other team. We can also go over the cap to resign him so if we are left with 15-20+ million to work with to sign a good free agent and still have the opportunity right know to get a player like GForce, Redd, etc then ill take it and run with it.

Then you are never going to get another player on this team. This would really improve us a lot whether you choose to see it or not. We can't keep passing up chances to make our team great just because we want CB4 in 2010, who might just resign with his current team. Or here's an idea for you LeBron James leaves Cleveland for a team that has a better situation because they were just carving out the 20 million to sign him, all while improving their roster.

Id would still wait first and see if we could get a Dirk,Amare,Joe Johnson etc..... believe me I was a HUGE G Force supporter....but with his knack of injuries, bad shooting ability, and long contract.......i had to rethink. He would still be a good option and could possibly help us get to the top.......but I would still wait to see what we can get.

......and trust me....im not the kinda guy that is to particularly worried about 2010 but you cant jeapordize to much for a guy that isnt going to give us the best chance of winning a ring. There are gonna be players mad and in bad situations that are better players in the middle of the season that we might be able to snag.

I do agree i'd like to wait until about 20-30 games into the season to see where we are as well as other teams. If teams with good players are struggling then i'm all for waiting to see what is available, but if teams like Dallas are the only ones that are struggling then we gotta move on they aren't going to trade Dirk to us because he could bring back a lot more young guys or draft picks then we can give them. Joe Johnson my favourite trade option that isn't an option. I'd love to get him but he really isn't available :(.

We can't worry about 2010. Let's say we give Varejao a a contract for 8 mil....that already compromises the cap space alone (well, for signing a Bosh-type), so no point in not pulling the trigger on deals now...I'm sure LeBron would rather win a ring now before the 2010 summer then having us wait till the summer of 2010 to TRY to sign Bosh and possibly fail at doing so, leaving LeBron with the same, if not WORSE supporting cast than he has now.
