After Saturday's win over Boston Windler has taken the team lead in on/off. The Cavs are scoring 12.1 points per 100 possessions more with Windler on the floor than when he is on the bench and defensively they're allowing 5.2 points less. Put those numbers together and so far this season the Cavs are 17.3 points better with Windler on the court than when he's down.
Rubio is second at 11.5 and Garland third at 10.7.
Compared to other NBA "wings", Windler ranks in the 95th percentile in effective field goal percentage. That breaks down to the 79th percentile in 2-point percentage and 91st percentile in 3-point percentage.
He's also in the 93rd percentile of all wings in offensive rebounding percentage and the 94th percentile in defensive rebound percentage.
He's in the 98th percentile in assists per usage rate, which is how many assists relative to how much he handles the ball.
He still fouls too much and commits too many turnovers, but his shooting, passing, and rebounding numbers are outstanding. Part of that is because he doesn't shoot unless he's wide open, so if he ever gets more aggressive offensively those numbers will come down. But there's a lot to like and I'm looking forward to him becoming more confident and taking more shots, just like we're seeing with Mobley.
