Well folks it's about the time to call it a season. The Tribe is down 2 runs heading into the top of the 9th and the Red Sox are up 6-0 on the Yankees in the bottom of the 4th. We were projected to finish 3rd in the division behind Minnesota and Chicago and we almost caught Chicago. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year and we rebuilt and won at the same time. We need to focus on the offseason and getting some right handed power into the lineup. We need a nice rbi home run guy in right field, and also to get Ryan Garko in at first base. Everything else is essentially set Sizemore and Crisp are locks in the outfield, Peralta Belliard Boone set in the infield. Hafner the DH. We need to get some better bats in the lineup and re tool our bullpen, Riske needs to go and if Wickman retires like he hinted then we need to go out and get a good closer possibly Bobby Howry. Overall a successful year even though we didn't reach the post season we are a young ball club and we surpassed expectations.

it was a great year but what a major choke job to end the year. :thumbdown

blake and ben need to go.

hopefully this garko kid can get the job done.

Garko is compared to Todd Helton but from the right side. Blake won't go I've heard he is Wedge's pet basically, he got an extension before the year which is sad because he only had 32 rbi's if you take away all his homers 55-23 most of them were solo shots. Broussard will go by popular demand for sure. He is 29 and he is just not putting anything together, Garko will unseat him for sure.

Anything less then playoffs was a complete failure..

The good year goes too :

Yankees
Red Sox
White Sox
Angels

Braves
Cardinals
Astros
AND MY PADRES :chuckles:

The Brewers need a solid left or right hand starting pitcher and a nice catcher. We have two hot outfield prospects that we need to find room for. The Brewers may be willing to deal all-star rbi man Carlos Lee (110+rbi's) for some good pitching and a catcher. Can the Indians fill this order?

Blake becomes Hernandez next year. Hopefully they sign somebody like Juan Encarnacion or Craig Monroe for RF next year and Garko comes through at 1B.

I would give my left nut for Carlos Lee on the Tribe..

He is what we need, a right handed Power Stick...(Stick him in that bastard Blake's position)

How about

Drew Gooden for Carlos Lee

You know you want Gooden.

We could deal you Josh Bard who is pretty solid behind the plate a lot like AJ Pierzynksi but younger with more power his first ever hit was a walkoff grand slam against the Yankees, and we could deal you any 1 of our young arms we have a plethora.

All of our talent is young right now. We have two outfield prospects, Corey Hart and Nelson Cruz, that could actually start next year. Right now we have Lee, Clark, and Jenkins....all relatively old guys compared to our young infield.....starting in the outfield. Carlos will be due another contract I believe after next year. The fiscal minded Brew Crew may indeed deal him if we can get a legitamate rotation pitcher (4.00 era or less) and a catcher (we have 47 year old Damien Miller starting now). Cleveland usually has some solid minor league (AAA level) prospects and an abundance of young talent.

What are Bard's hitting numbers if you have them at the ready. We really would like to have a catcher that can hit at least .240 with maybe 10-15 jacks.

I'd also be interested in seeing some names and numbers on some of your arms that may be on the block whenever you have the time to post them.

Well Bard was up at the big leauge level as Victors backup the whole season but he can easily get you 15 long balls and 50 plus rbi's. I can find some good young pitching, probably a Jason Davis Bard combo might land us Lee. Davis is like 24 and pitched in the bigs 2 years ago and went to Buffalo to get his confidence back.

Another move that the Brewers are DEFINITELY going to make is at first base. We've got Prince Fielder coming in next year and will be looking to deal Lyle Overbay. How do you guys look at 1b? Lyle will only hit you about 20 homers at first, but he's usually a .290-.300 hitter that drives both gaps extremely well. He's a doubles machine.

My SIG is all you need to know about our 1st baseman.

Nah we dont want another 20 homer guy like Broussard was I'll take Garko and deal Davis and Bard for Cliff Lee. Garko can catch also so when Victor is not in the lineup we can use him and stick someone else at 1st.

:chuckles: So that's where that loser plays. I saw a highlight of him coming up short with at least two runners on and hitting a weak fly to center I think. Lyle is a very patient hitter that will always have a high OBP. He's very solid offensively and a very good defensive first baseman. I wouldn't be surprised if Brewer GM Doug Melvin talks to Cleveland so that we don't have to trade any talented players to any of our rivals. I'd love to send Overbay to Cleveland. He's still young (25) and very productive. I'd trade him for that catching prospect that you have.
