i can remember parts of the 2000-2001 season like it happened yesterday. we landed a bunch of role players like matt harpring, chris gatling, tractor traylor, and spoon. Z was healthy and randy wittman was a front runner for coach of the year a quater of the way through the season.
the "zoo crew" was going to print out shirts to pass out to the huge crowds we were getting at the time.
and then chrismas was ruined, espn bottom line showed that Z had broken his foot. the cavs played some of the worst ball i had ever watched and i almost got to the point were i was going to give up.
for the next several years we, the cavs, sucked so bad. i got teased at school all the time and i got to watch games where the empty seats were more noticable than the games.
now we are on the brink of contending with 3 all-stars, we have the most talented player in the league, a healthy Z, and now hughes. our core guys are young and we have a solid bench with even more promise.
for all the "real cavs fans" the diehards who have died with this team--it now seems as if the tuff times are behind us. no more lottery picks, but playoff wins. we, diehards, know who we are and i like to say that it feels damn good to be watching a winner.
