i can remember parts of the 2000-2001 season like it happened yesterday. we landed a bunch of role players like matt harpring, chris gatling, tractor traylor, and spoon. Z was healthy and randy wittman was a front runner for coach of the year a quater of the way through the season.

the "zoo crew" was going to print out shirts to pass out to the huge crowds we were getting at the time.

and then chrismas was ruined, espn bottom line showed that Z had broken his foot. the cavs played some of the worst ball i had ever watched and i almost got to the point were i was going to give up.

for the next several years we, the cavs, sucked so bad. i got teased at school all the time and i got to watch games where the empty seats were more noticable than the games.

now we are on the brink of contending with 3 all-stars, we have the most talented player in the league, a healthy Z, and now hughes. our core guys are young and we have a solid bench with even more promise.

for all the "real cavs fans" the diehards who have died with this team--it now seems as if the tuff times are behind us. no more lottery picks, but playoff wins. we, diehards, know who we are and i like to say that it feels damn good to be watching a winner.

Let's hope we get a GREAT 3 pointer shooter..

If we somehow do, I'm sure we'll get to the ECF soon.

Yea it feels DAMN good now that we have built a team that can win some playoff games. Like you said after years of having people make fun of us we are finally one of the better teams of the East.

yep cali i remember that season, i was living in san diego at the time, but i was able to catch the mavs at cavs that year on the nba package we had at the time.
we were down like 12 points with 5 minutes left in the 4th, and "z" dominated in the comeback... the ZOO CREW..

I think it's a little early to say that we are going to be winning playoff games.

We haven't even made it to the playoffs in years. When we do finally get to the post season, I am not going to set my goals up high. This team is still young and has yet to develope team chemistry.

In about 2 years though, I believe we will be spoiled as Cavs fans with numorous of victories. But right now, we have to think about winning games "during the season".

A lot of the Lebronaliers arent going to remember that start.

That broke my heart, esp cause Z was on my fantasy team, muhahaha..

But we had it going on that year, Andre Miller was a great PG and Z was just commanding so much attention that his stat line really didnt tell the story of what he was doing.

But when Z went down, we were done.

Alot of people dont understand how important Z is to us, and a lot of that is because you get a lot of bandwagon Lebron fans and all they want to see is a run and gun slam dunk contest rather than a top notch basketball team that is capable of going either style at any point in the game ala the Spurs. I just hope we can get some defense like they do.

pippen-i totally remember that game. i think there was a snow storm that day and when the game started reghi said "well it looks like it matt, me and a couple of our firends."

we have 17 mill, i firmly believe that we should give z the money.

Life is good to be a cavs fan. For the first time ever we have attracted a major free agent.

i dont know does larry hughes beat out john battle karma????....

LOL Richone. Deadset our biggest free agents we have signed are Larry Hughes, John Battle and Gerald Wilkins. Thats not an overly impressive list over 30+ years. I'm glad our best one, Hughes, is the present one.

remember when the heat got booed off the court for only scoring 67 points? Rat riley said he never been so embarrased! Then they came to gund a game later for revenge and didn't get it.

wasnt that a back to back game??? the second at the gund and brian grant got his ass booed. :chuckles:

I remember when we tried to Brian Grant the max or near max...man o man..

we also tried to scoop up rick fox for like $ 40 beans... we would still be feeling that one..

although, that was the one thing pax was good for.. he would just call up portland and say: "we got this guy on our team that is highly overpaid and lazy"

portland gm: "we'll take him"
