If you go back to the Coco thread, this is why I said I liked the deal when everyone had their panties in a bunch...

Yeah exactly, everyone was freaking out because all they saw was..
Cleveland Trades: COCO
Marte could easily turn into the best player involved in the deal, he was traded for Renteria straight up, people are saying oh well he was dealt twice he sucks...not quite, you don't get much playing time at 3rd playing behind Chipper Jones. Marte ripped up the grapefruit league and could easily be up here now.
I checked out Michaels numbers when the deal was pending and realized he is a lot like Crisp. Good on base %. Good contact hitter, stronger arm in the outfield, and has already made some circus catches. We got the best catching prospect from the Sox and people shrug that off, he too was behind one of the best at their position in Varitek. He is the future catcher as we try to get Victor comfy at first.
Mota did well today I thought, showed some good stuff, I think he can replace Bobby Howry plus he can go more then 1 inning if necessary he had 75 appearances and over 100+ innings with the Dodgers previously.
Tribe got the best of that deal and improved Plus we have Franklin Gutierrez as well. Hopefully we don't have to face Johan Santana in this upcoming series :thumbdown:

Its three games into the season, the guy has never played a full year. Let him get through the year before we scream success.
Coco was a proven every day player. Michaels has started out nice, he had a great game today, but the season is 162 games.

I agree with that as well MAC... I just wasn't caught up into all the CoCo stuff like others... He seemed like an average ball player to me that did improve over a period of time.. Excellent for him.. But I think you can find a replacement for him easily, it's not like he was a huge base stealer or anything...Since he is a switch hitter, he should be able to do better in Boston with the short porch in right and close in infield with the monster in left..
I don't miss him .. But I hope he does well...
