Isaiah Mobley: 2023 SL MVP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There is no way in hell he'll ever play the 3 in the NBA. If he could do that, he would've gone in the Top 5.

I'm not gonna disagree with in terms of him being able to play the 3. I don't think he can. But even if he could he won't have gone top 5. He would have been a late first though. 23 year old rookies don't go in the lotto anymore. Last one I believe was Cam Johnson. And before that Wesley Johnson was the last to go top 5. Us taking Ochai who is 22 in the lotto is a rarity.

I remember people saying no way Markkanen could play the 3. I think with Evan Mobley and Allen, it's easier to put length at the 3 without the typical athleticism. That player doesn't have to worry as much about getting beat to the rim because they have two rim protectors behind them.

He isn't a 3 in every system but he could be used as a 3 with our current roster. He seems to be good at keeping smaller guys in front of him when their slashing. His length will be able to disrupt shooters on the perimeter.

It wouldn't stop me from getting a true SF. I do think if we lean in on using a triple towers lineup alot, Isaiah could be another player that allows us to play it more without extending Markkanen's minutes.

I don’t have a problem with him….my problem is wasting picks on “stash” players when there was still players in the draft that can help us in the immediate future!

How many 2nd round picks actual help as rookies?

If we could of gotten back in the 1st, would of loved a backup pg. But a rookie cant be backup pg, if Sexton is on the team, that is his role, if not we will use part or all of the MLE to find a backup pg. This roster isnt done yet, chances are none of the rookies have a huge impact, even Agbaji will have to fight for minutes.

It's quite incredible just how unathletic mobley 1.0 is. Like he has been at a D1 school with legit S&C for years. However he can shoot and really pass so he might have a ceiling of Luke Walton

Backup PG has been a hole on this team for a while. It feels like we have cycled through more retreads, washed up vets, and g-leaguers than any other position. We are going to have minutes for a backup PG at the beginning of the season if the plan is to bring Rubio back, he won't be ready until a couple month after the season starts.

Even if Sexton is able to play the backup PG spot to begin the season, we are one injury away from playing someone like Goodwin. I'd rather have drafted a PG in the second round or get one of the top UDFA and seen if they could out compete Goodwin. If they could we start developing that player in house on a two way contract. Calderon and Rubio could mentor him and we could keep bring him along when injuries happen. I'm not sure how much longer Rubio is going to play in the NBA, I would have liked to bring in his replacement now vs later. Whoever we get would benefit greatly from Rubio's mentorship. Are we going to waste that prime opportunity to develop our future backup PG on a 26 year old Goodwin.

I think everyone knows my favorite PG from this class already. Jordan Hall has really good natural court vision in a 6'7 body. He shot 3 pointer at a good percentage. There are some questions with his athleticism but it's the type of player you take a shot on in the 2nd round or throw a two way contract at right out of the gate, if he hits Koby would look like a genius. Even if he becomes a 15-20 minute a game backup PG in 2 years that just allows Sexton to play off ball, it would still be a very good pick up. He plays the point very much like Calderon did, more on the perimeter/mid range with some side to side probing. The Spurs picked him up and I wouldn't be surprised if he is another undrafted guy that the Spurs hit on.

I think Sexton ends up leaving in a sign and trade. I'm not sure where. Just the feeling I get. As for Jordan Hall I'm not sure if teams in the NBA viewed him as a PG or wing. I didn't mind Hall as a prospect but I question if he will ever be able to defend in the NBA. I feel like he could be a star overseas because of his size and skill but his lack of athletic ability really hurts his NBA chances. Although I admit I would have taken a shot with him at 56 where Cavs picked the Aussie.

Isaiah has the potential to fulfill my dream of having a 4 out 1 in offense while maintaining interior defense. Maybe we can use a line up below for certain situations to break games open.

Garland
Ochai
Mark
EV4
Isaiah

Dudes only hope is to become such a great shooter and EFFORT defender he gets Bobby Portis type minutes. But we also already have a bunch of dudes who do his role. Whose minutes will be steal? DWade? Lauri? Lamar Stevens or Dean Wade is the best bet to get his roster spot. He is gonna have to show ability to play the 3 if hes gonna steal one of their spots. If he shows decent instincts on D hell have a way easier time stealing Lamar or Dean's spots. If that wingspan and mobility doesn't translate to the court hes gonna be out the league QUICK

He’s here to lift weights and play video games with his brother. Dan paid $1.5m to buy that. Fine with it but no need to do any analysis on him.

He's going to make Lauri expendable. He's gon take his spot when Lauri goes to war with Russia.

I think he makes more sense on a 2-way contract than Tacko last year.

Jbb is particularly good with Bigs.. so good environment for .Isaiah.. on to summer league
