Idk who to believe, on one hand we went 11-4 in January without some of our top players…on the other hand, some posters said JBB should be fired because he lost one game against Detroit.
lt is all what have you done for me lately.

The posters on the site are far more qualified to be NBA head coaches than this product of pure nepotism.

What you don't know is that 50% of this board is made up of guys who are in fact professional basketball coaches. That's why they are on an internet forum.

whoa.. feeling a bit inadequate now. I couldn't get my own sons to play hard in their 6-7 year old YMCA league. One of them pulled a Kevin Porter Jr on me, threw some soup and walked off the court.

Sometimes I get bored breaking down game film and coming up with game plans, so I come on here to maybe catch some fresh ideas about how I should be using my players and also to check out the I Pooped A Huge Log thread every so often. It breaks up the monotony

Coaching basketball is easy. You just have to activate the override and drop 80 with your star every night.

Time for you to separate the X’s & O’s from the Jimmy’s & Joe’s….

I havent watched a lot of full games yet this year, but do we ever do motion on the other side away from the ball? One thing a lot of these higher octane offenses (Phx, Den, Mem, Mia) do is run a lot of screens on the backside to occupy the two defenders there. I feel like we just always have two guys standing in the corner and not moving. We have players who could do a solid job with more motion ... would love to see that incorporated into the offense moving forward

Cavs also start 2 bigs with no perimeter game and a 2guard that is more of a slasher…

A lot of those high octane, ball movement/player movement offenses are designed with players that can shoot where the defense has to honor it…

Cavs don’t have that kinda roster…

Problem tonight was we played our worst game of the year on defense. Stupid fouls early and often combined with whistle happy refs got us out of sorts and we never did put together a defensive stand.

Our offense is getting progressively more stagnant as the season progressses.

This.

Go back and watch the offense from the first 10 games and the offense after, once Sexton went down.

Night and day differences. Weakside court actions with the starting unit went to the wayside in favor of high PnRs and playing a more inside-out game to get looks at 3s. Team had to adjust its offense on the fly, they were relying a lot on secondary actions involving Sexton early on and I am sure its what was installed during their training camp and preseason.

Bench guard groupings still use the weave action that has been effective all year long with some off ball pin downs trying to get Cedi free or Love with more space coming in to set a pick to pick and pop with the ball handler.

Movement is nice, but sometimes when you have limited options on the floor less is more and simple can be very effective and efficient for you.

Precisely. Which this also illustrates just how damn good Garland is as a playmaker.

Cavs can adjust their style to their current personnel and get the most out of it with a player that can shoot, penetrate and create off the dribble for himself or others…

You’re seeing a lot of hybrid 1-4 sets/top of the key passing with high screens to get into a threat position and keep the defenses off balance…

Garland’s ability to keep not only the interior opposition defense engage but also keep his 2 bigs engaged offensively suits that personnel just fine…. But when you remove him from the lineup you’re literally stuck with 2 bigs who can’t really create anything on their own…

In short— This team doesn’t have a modern day 3 point shooting lineup…. With Garland you have an up and down 2005 style of offense with him as a Steve Nash kinda player (you can get by quite well with it)…. Without Garland you have a 1995 style of offense :chuckle: (you’re fucked)

We looked like dinosaurs tonight for sure.

Today I learned “Coach of the Month” is an actual award... I legitimately had no idea :chuckle:

There’s also poster of the month. It’s early but I think you have a real shot of winning for February
