Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think it's any surprise that with a rookie QB they wouldn't be taking chances down the field regularly. Also, who exactly was Oakland supposed to throw the ball downfield to last year?

Living in the Bay Area, I've been forced to watch some Raiders. The Raiders had a questionable receiving corp. Holmes had some moments going deep. James Jones used to be a deep threat, but he has tightened up his route running and they used him as a move the chains receiver. Reece and Rivera were their bread and butter, it looks like the Browns are planning the same way. I think Oakland made the right choice in the 1st round, Coop should go to some Pro Bowls. I'd take Cooper over all the Browns WR options.

Oh ok. That was a useful perspective on what our offense will most likely look like under Flip, although I didn't think he called plays last year?

While Flip didn't call the plays, he developed Carr, which got him this job. I'm seeing similar moving pockets and short throws to backs and tight ends so far.

Per the Browns beat:

- Manziel underwent an MRI that showed no structural damage

- The Browns are considering adding another QB.

Having to impress people with what can only be described as a mediocre arm can't be easy on the ligaments.
You left out the part about Connor Shaw having Surgery.
That is qhy the Browns are considering adding another QB not because of Manziels elbow.

Shaw's injury is old news, and they also have Lewis to fill that void.

Just going on what was reported today.

On Derek Carr.. Not disputing the numbers, but wouldn't it be wise for a HC/OC to give a rookie easier completions early in his career? Starting as a rookie is a new and risky venture for franchises. I think Flip was helping Carr become more comfortable in the pocket during game speed situations; as Carr becomes more comfortable, it makes sense that he would likely be better at throwing to his deeper reads.

Now manziel is shelved for the rest of the preseason.. is this elbow thing legit? there gotta be a cover up !

Hoyer probably didn't have to do TOO much to win this competition:

You have some problems with the time line b00bie. First Hoyer was given the job by the coaching staff. Then Mallet gave a press conference that was described as "white knuckled". The next day Mallet "overslept."

The Battle between Tom Brady back ups can get intense.

Nothing compared to "tennis elbow." That shit is utterly debilitating.

I can't imagine Mallet's behavior is abnormal, he's had issues dating back to his time at Arkansas.

"White knuckled" for the drama of Hard Knocks, but Hoyer's declaration as the starter was pretty well assumed.

So he Johnny really hurt or is he covering up for shortcomings that he doesn't want exposed by having to face a first team defense?

Just seems odd. Like how he was too hurt to play the rest of the Carolina game and the following week after getting tackled on that keeper.

I'd spot him two a side, and I'll do a shot on every even hole and drink a beer every odd hole and I will guarantee victory. He's a chump, pure and simple. He's got the spine of an invertebrate.
He'd beat me at quarterbacking though...barely.

Seriously, the sooner we move on, the better the Browns are.

Jff and a fuckload of 1st rounders for Matt Ryan. We should just trade our first rounders every year anyways, though this year's seem diferent
