Josh Howard?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Actually, Sasha got some reasonable playing time tonight -- and has looked relatively consistent all season. We don't know what's been happening off the court that has caused MB to play him so little, but we never know.

However, I do know that West wont be guarding Kobe. Lets not use absurd ideas just to promote dumb trades.

Sasha played 11 minutes tonight, let's say nothing changes from now till June and the Cavs have the same roster. Let's also assume West has held onto the starting spot for the majority of the season and the playoffs, do you really think that for the finals the lineup will change? MB certainly wont put LeBron on Kobe, not in the first half, so that leaves West on an island by himself.

Also, maybe it's just me, but I wouldnt want to rest my title hopes on Sasha being the big 2 guard.

Really -- you're still arguing that West is going to guard Kobe?

Again, who else would?

It won't be West, but I'm not going to speculate on the finals when we're not even 20 games into the season. Jesus. At least try and be reasonable.

LeBron guarded Melo all night and he has guarded the teams best player every game. If he does that all year and into the playoffs why change that? Kobe is good don't get me wrong but he shoots way to much to completely tire Bron out. Wade (Maybe DWest guards him because of the height?) will be the real test of our teams defense this year because he isn't a great shooter so he will drive more.

All you can say is it wont be West? If he continues to play well he's obviously going to stay in the starting lineup. He's already guarded Josh Howard, who is a cool 5-6 inches taller.

And, maybe you should think about who the Cavs could be playing in the finals, that's why so many other people on these boards (Not just trade ideas) have echoed the opinion that the Cavs need a big 2 guard.

I've never disagreed with the idea of us needing a 2 guard. But arguing that West will be guarding Kobe does nothing to make that point because it's not going to happen.

The Cavs have only played 1 team with a prototypical big guard, and that was the Pacers. They were able to take advantage of West in the post and force the Cavs to send a help defender because West couldnt handle the mighty Marquis Daniels downlow. Teams with big wing players are a concern, especially those with a big SG and SF like the Pistons or Rockets, and even the Lakers, mainly because you cannot hide West on the lesser of two offensive players.

No you can't but West is not going to guard Kobe and against the Rockets LeBron would guard TMac aswell. West didn't play Daniels the whole game. I jsut think that if we played the Lakers or anybody for that matter that has two big wings than we will simply put in Sasha for a few minutes here and there to lighten the blow. Players like that (Kobe, TMac etc) will get the numbers no matter who is on them so saying that West will make us weak isn't a great argument.

Kobe is like LeBron. A defense can do whatever they want but it doesn't matter LeBron is going to score.

So LeBron would guard Tmac, nice, I guess that means West can guard Ron Artest, that'll work out well. West was on Daniels the majority of the game, it wasnt a matter of him scoring, it was the simple fact he actually caused the defense to collapse on him because West could not stop him from backing down. It's not as simple as just putting Sasha in the game, and it's not just them getting their numbers, it's them forcing the defense to send help and swinging the ball. It's the open looks that come from the defense having to help, not just the opposing guard getting their numbers.

I understand where both sides are coming from, but as for abuC....He is basically saying West has to guard the 2 or he will be even more out matched trying to guard the 3 and obviously Mo can't guard the 2 or 3.

It's not just about those great players scoring no matter what. Our perimeter defense is not good right. Our players keep getting beat off the dribble.

Lebron has proven he can lock other players down. We need to get another player next to Lebron who has the ability to guard players efficiently.
IMO, Gerald Wallace would be great but he wont be able to space the floor out properly since he is not a good shooter.

The way the Nuggets attacked us in the first half and the way the bulls attacked us when we played them its clear that our PERIMETER DEFENSE is our weakness right now.

We've done a good job in both games in the second half but against teams like the Celtics, Utah, Lakers, Hornets, etc.... we will need to play good consistent defense for 4 quarters.

I get what he means. LOL Mo can't really gaurd the ones very well.

The things aboout Josh is that he hasn't had his head in the game after that first round loss to the Warriors.
