I hate it when posters try to cast a wild trade as a rumor. This is just a thought I have had, and I was looking for thoughtful feedback. It applies only in the event that Z wants more money than we are willing to pay.

I was thinking about a three way trade among NO, Toronto and Cleveland.

New Orleans trades its #4 draft spot for Toronto's # 7 and # 16 draft spot.

Then NO trades Magloire and a draft pick to Cleveland for Z.

Toronto moves up and can get a Marquis player (perhaps Gerald Green ) which they need.

Clevo gets center that fits who doesn't want to be in NO anyway, and a draft pick for a SG or a point (wouldn't we like Ray Felton for example), which are deep in this draft.

NO gets a draft pick anyway and a real Big Man to carry the offense (which is the main problem at NO). Z hammering away inside will open up JR smith, and Dickau for a reign of treys, and NO could use the pick to grab young big like Tiago Splitter to heat up on the inside and replace Z over time.

I am not sure how the CBA salary caps apply to draft trades. I think Magloire is < 10 Million. Of couse NO is full of garbage big man contracts they could unload to make it up.

The wildcard of course is Z as he would have to want to go. But in Charlotte he would have the scoring role he wants and a decent rebounder to take care of the dirty work, as well as proven outside shooters to keep the double teams down to a minimum.

Is this too crazy to imagine?

an okay idea,
but NO will never go for it. they're not looking to contend now- so they're not going to mortgage the future for a 30 year old center with bad tires.

they are going to go young, and build thru the draft.

the only teams i see trading for "z" are contenders such as dallas, and before this year minnesota.

i would love to trade "z" to dallas and get one of their two young players HOWARD, or DANIELS. (just think we had howard last year on draft day, but someone backed out)

i'm not real sure how the money compares, and i know dallas would have to throw somebody else in the mix.

if they can get an interior defender, i know they would want "z" because they need front court scoring... but dallas has always been known in this era for being a no defensive squad (so that alone will squash my dream) :(

LeBron's Pippen is right. NO wouldn't have interest in Z. They're rebuilding and adding young players. If Z is part of a sign and trade it would be to a playoff or contending team. Z would also never agree to go to a team like the Hornets.

I also think any deal with Dallas would have to involve Dampier. Dallas would want to unload him before taking on another high priced C. I would want no part of Dampier. He's Z's age, is inconsistent and still has 6 years left on a $73 million contract.

If not Z, would there be any other players that NO would want from us?

Since they are rebuilding, I am pretty sure that they would consider taking one of our swingmen off our hands, no?

Drew Gooden may have some value there as they have the ageing PJ Brown, and unproven West at power forward. Pavlovic and Jackson would also be some bait.

I'd take PJ Brown. The man can rebound, and he can block shots. NO should be looking to get rid of their veterans this offseason. To add to that, with Larry Brown probably being our President, I am sure he would rather have vets on the floor rather than waiting on Drew Gooden to develope or even Sasha.

I do respect PJ Brown, but I think we are a couple of years late to get the player he was. He has been a solid veteran for many years, but his game is starting to deteriate. The Hornets being in a rebuilding stage are unlikely though to unload a high pick. Maybe though they may look at dealing their 2nd rounder (No.33) for Welsch.

Start AV, put PJ off the bench. Problem solved.

Well if we were to trade Drew Gooden, I think we possibly attract something more then the 2005/06 version of PJ Brown. I like the guy, but he is just getting on a little too much for my liking. Maybe if we look at getting a combination of Chris Anderson and Speedy Claxton/Dan Dickau for Gooden and Pavlovic/Welsch.

I agree with Karma. It's probably a couple of years too late with PJ. He is a solid player but he also has a very big contract. I believe he'll make $8-9 next season.

PJ is still owed $16 mil the next two 2 years. $8 mil a year.

why in the he!! are we talking about P.J BROWN ?

i know he got a 5th place VOTE in the mvp voting in all !! BUT C'MON for god sakes we don't want p.j. brown, HE'S LIKE 35

i'm also not ready to give up on DREW. even though he was inconsistent at times, i thought he was a nice suprise during the season.

perhaps with a new defensive minded coach, he can tap into drew's defensive capabilites. (because other then that, drew was pretty solid)

I don't think I would give up Drew for anything NO has. I know NO has said they are not trading Magloire, but it is all over the NO forums that Magloire will not be back in NO next year. He has the "I'm done with George Shinn" disease that too Baron Davis out of there. Still, I understand the comments re Z. Maybe there is an interim and we can pick up Mags in 2006-7. I still think he is a better fit for the King.
