I hate it when posters try to cast a wild trade as a rumor. This is just a thought I have had, and I was looking for thoughtful feedback. It applies only in the event that Z wants more money than we are willing to pay.
I was thinking about a three way trade among NO, Toronto and Cleveland.
New Orleans trades its #4 draft spot for Toronto's # 7 and # 16 draft spot.
Then NO trades Magloire and a draft pick to Cleveland for Z.
Toronto moves up and can get a Marquis player (perhaps Gerald Green ) which they need.
Clevo gets center that fits who doesn't want to be in NO anyway, and a draft pick for a SG or a point (wouldn't we like Ray Felton for example), which are deep in this draft.
NO gets a draft pick anyway and a real Big Man to carry the offense (which is the main problem at NO). Z hammering away inside will open up JR smith, and Dickau for a reign of treys, and NO could use the pick to grab young big like Tiago Splitter to heat up on the inside and replace Z over time.
I am not sure how the CBA salary caps apply to draft trades. I think Magloire is < 10 Million. Of couse NO is full of garbage big man contracts they could unload to make it up.
The wildcard of course is Z as he would have to want to go. But in Charlotte he would have the scoring role he wants and a decent rebounder to take care of the dirty work, as well as proven outside shooters to keep the double teams down to a minimum.
Is this too crazy to imagine?
