Winslow grateful, anxious to play

What you thought you knew about Kellen Winslow is probably about to change.

Winslow opened up Monday in his first public comments since training camp began, revealing that the torn ACL suffered in his May 2005 motorcycle accident wasn't even the worst injury his right knee sustained, and because of those injuries he'll "probably never be 100 percent" the same player he was before.

What's driven him to come back from those injuries was among a wide range of topics Winslow discussed including his maturity level, his public persona, his quarterback and his plans to be "on top" of the NFL.

By the way - those plans haven't changed.

"I think my 90 percent is still better than every tight end out there," he said.

Winslow will be a beast this year. Not only that, but he will be the #1 option of the Offense.

If any of you have gone to Training Camp, you will see that Winslow is:

1. Clearly the best player on the field

2. He is used the most (thrown to the most) so far in Training Camp.

Can we expect 1000+ Yards? 8+ Touch Downs?

Maybe, if Training Camp is any indication of what is to come, and how things will be run (utilized)

I sure hope so, I really liked what I thought he was going to bring to the team when we drafted him but those dreams were dashed in game 2 and again in May of 05.

His arms look HUGE I mean wow I heard 8 hours a day but to lose all his muscle in a staph infection and come back ripped is just a tribute to him.

Yes, him and Braylon Edwards are freaks of nature. Their D.N.A.s have something extra in them….or so says Randy Lerner.

The only knack on Winslow I think is that he is not a great blocker. Besides that, he is expected to dominate in every category.

If he is only 90% he wont be the best TE in the league, not even close. Even at 100% that would be a stretch in his first year.

I go to all the practices also, and it is only practice, u are not playing another team and most guys dont play real hard.

But winslow does look really good, i just cant say anyithng cuz it is only practice.

If he is only 90% he wont be the best TE in the league, not even close. Even at 100% that would be a stretch in his first year.

He won’t be the best, but better than 95% of the other TEs. The only people better than him "might" be are: Baltimore’s, Kansas City's, New York Giant's and San Diego's. ←-And you all know who they are. Need I say more?

It's much like defense in the NBA the guy has all the physical tools, hopefully Dinkins will help him in that facet of his game. If he gets the mentality he could be a fierce blocking TE

My cousin is close friends with Antonio Gates..he's a Steeler fan and wanted to be their TE but they weren't interested..phew

Yeah my cousin and he both attended Kent State 4 years together and were workout buddies. Gates being on the basketball team and my cousin being a personal trainer and nutrional major they were a nice tandem.

He said they met at a bar after his first year and he was all decked out in a Lynn Swann jersey with a Steeler cap on and all sorts of gear.

My cousin was like damn did you get traded? He's like "Naw Pitts my team thats where my family and my girls at but they weren't interested in me"

I bit overly optimistic to heap greatness on Braylon and Winslow2 before they have proven a darn thing in the NFL.

How about they catch a few passes and stay healthy for a whole year before we induct them into the freaks of nature greatness HOF.

So far they are disappointments more than best in the leagues.

Although we are not guaranteeing anything, we just expect great things from both of them. Both have shown great flashes (BE last year, KW2 in 2004).

PS- If you guys go to training camp, you will be amazed with Winslow, and it is 100% clear that Winslow is the best player on the field by far. I know that doesn’t mean much, but it can be an indication of what’s to come.

One thing is for certain, EVERYONE IS EXCITED.
