Two X chromosomes means you're a woman. Why would a heterosexual woman have a problem lusting after Kevin Love? You seem to be confused.

Dude, you must not have a fundamentalist Christian background (I'm still Christian, but no longer fundamentalist). They think women never have such thoughts and that we're a bunch of blind, asexual robots. It's very entrenched dogma in that circle. There literally isn't a single online resource out there in that culture acknowledging women lust visually. I challenge anyone to try and find one.

At any rate, I finally found the Love interview on YouTube. Looks like he didn't really address any new ground, but it still helps to get the word out to anyone who hadn't heard before, I guess.

What made you decide to leave and how long ago?

For the OT analists:
Kevin Love is cool

Speaking of religion, according to creationism, mankind roamed the earth with the dinosaurs roughly 4000 years ago. I'd like to share with you a synopsis by a world renowned expert on the subject:

"Alright, so y'all know how we got dogs and stuff, right? So, I think it was bigger people in the world before us, and, like, the dinosaurs were their pets." - Dr. Jordan Clarkson, PhD

Oh it's something of a long story. I'll try to put it into context.

From 2017-2018, I attended an independent fundamental Baptist church until a little over a year ago (I was the only woman who wore pants there, lol). They were nice enough people, but they were so naive in regards to their salvation theology. Here are people who want to be separate from the world, and yet they nonsensically also want huge mega-size churches, and wonder why people aren't responding in droves to their door-to-door "soul-winning" salesmanship attempts (which isn't contextually or historically Biblically based at all, but instead based on early 20th century traditions). I couldn't stand the absurdity anymore, so I had to leave and return to my conservative Lutheran roots.

But I was initially sucked into fundamentalist and extreme conservativism through the Niednagels, whom I've mentioned here before. Jon Niednagel, the Celtics NBA scout and founder of the controversial Brain Types theory, is a hardcore authoritarian and conservative Calvinist. His family more or less all fall into a similar outlook. A few even have connection to the former Vision Forum cult. Niednagel believes Darwin and other FCIR/ENTP Brain Types are responsible for leading the Western world into evolutionary beliefs and Hollywood liberalism. (Never mind that the Bible itself says nothing about Brain Types; Niednagel is convinced that his observations are the gospel, analytic, and empirical truth, and his views on religion, politics, and everything else are to never be questioned because his rare Brain Type is allegedly the most truth-seeking and exacting of them all.) It just seemed like he had all the black-and-white answers, and that my own more relaxed and generic FCIR/ENTP Christian parents were too loose in their upbringing of me.

Well, I've since distanced myself from all that. I no longer think Niednagel's views, Brain Types or otherwise, are the be-all and end-all of everything. And I've found that extreme conservatism is no better than extreme liberalism; both don't really appear to have any balance or Biblical basis.

Congrats on getting away from something that obviously wasn’t mentally healthy.

Two thoughts on this discussion:

1. I am a 100% heterosexual male, but am comfortable enough in my own skin to say that Kevin Love is gorgeous. If I were ever going to swing from that side of the plate, I'd let him bang me. Please, pant away, and do so without reservation or judgment.

2. I've always been skeptical of brain typing (like the MBTI or Niednagel's twist on it). I think the typing itself is an interesting exercise, and can provide some illuminating insights. But just like any other theory or statistical tool (which we see plenty of when discussing hoops), it has its limits, and should not be treated as a discussion-ender. Just because it's a hammer, does not mean that all the world's problems are nails.

I agree with @The Oi: congratulations on getting out of a situation like that.

My sincere apologies -- I completely missed that you are female. I just assumed when you said "two X chromosones" that you were a very confused dude -- we have a lot more of those than females, unfortunately for us. Instead I'm the confused person.

Consensus is that Love is hot hot hot and fundamentalists don't understand women are just as horny as men.
Just not at the same time as men....

What's going on in here?

He's objectively perfect looking, and so he excites women to the point where we cannot watch his interviews and listen to his important messages on mental health at the same time. It's either one or the other.

On the basketball court, it's tolerable. He's at a safe distance. But those interviews are intolerable, because they're up close, and there's nothing we can do except stare at the floor and try to listen.

:)

You've just described how grown men can look like absolute idiots when a very attractive woman is in view.

I was rollerblading on the Little Miami trail near Cincinnati one early evening in a section that's not very busy (could skate a couple of miles and not see anyone). I was approaching a curve and this dark-haired woman was coming the other way -- my age at the time (around 40), VERY fit, tall and looking great while skating. Anyway, I was distracted and next thing I know skated right off the trail and crashed. Benny Hill moment.

Serious question for you -- as a woman, how did his opening up about his mental health struggles make you feel about him? Did you think it made him look weaker or stronger? Did it make you like him less, or more?

As someone who is on the autism spectrum, and whose husband suffered from depression a number of years before we got together, I had a lot of respect for it. Both men and women in our culture are expected to put on a facade of happiness all the time, but life has its struggles, and it's unrealistic to expect people to shove everything under a rug and pretend everything is ok all the time. That's not real life. Everyone has challenges, ups and downs, and varying coping mechanisms. Without any outlets for our frustrations, or people who can help us in our weak areas, we will blow up or burn out. I don't know when or why or how gradually America came to its unrealistic mindset, but it's not universal by any means. The Biblical patriarchs cried in some contexts. They tore at their garments. The Pauline churches were encouraged to build up one another. Rugged individualism is not a Scriptural concept. The American way has gotten distorted and confused. Again, not sure where our cultural expectations originated, but they're ridiculous, and they certainly don't trace back to religious faith.

Man has this thread taken a weird turn, fundamental Christians banging Kevin Love till he is crazy.
